  1. I remember many, many -30s in Canaan, Island Pond and other NEK spots in the 70’s & 80’s. -32 at IP this morning.
  2. It has been a spectacular day. You can really tell how snow starved we had been. I don’t know the last time I saw so many people on snowmobile trails. Not just speeders either, skiers, snowshoers and people just out for a walk.
  3. We live in a beautiful place.
  4. Nice pics below. I live in Barre and work in Montpelier at the Attorney General’s office. Montpelier is a neat town. A couple of good restaurants. Pretty much shuts down after 5:00 and on weekends when all of us state employees go home.
  5. Beautiful night for a snowmobile ride. The moon is gorgeous. Wish my picture did it justice.
  6. Capital Plaza? I work across the street.
  7. I can’t believe your boss made you work until 5:30. What a slave driver!
  8. Watch out for drifting and white outs on your way up. The high elevation on I-89 between exits 3 and 7 can get particularly bad.
  9. Hopefully you’re here already Fozz. The roads are not good.
  10. I'm glad that I'm not the only having a hard time describing what has been coming out of the sky. Similar to you, we have a pretty thick crust but no glazing to speak of.
  11. Everything had stopped by the time I came out of the gym half an hour ago. About 3.5” with a crust.
  12. Because of the hate and/or lack of interest in the main thread, I figured I'd post some expected storm total charts here.
  13. I think I have now driven through the towns of all our NNE posters. Decided to take Rt.2 home from ME yesterday and drove through Tamarack's town of New Sharon. I think he's making up his great snowpack retention, in fact, I think I saw palm trees! Just kidding. It was interesting to see the ebb and flow of snow on the way through. The Rumford area seemed to have a decent amount on the ground. Of course the one thing I remember about Rumford is the smell of the paper mill and it's still there.
  14. I feel bad for Finau, he just can't seem to get over the finish line. I listened to quite a bit of it on satellite radio driving home from Maine. Stopped for dinner with Finau leading by 2, came back out to hear Simpson sink the winning putt.
  15. Yes, that is Katahdin. I wish the summit hadn’t been obscured.
  16. Spending some time in Maine.
  17. I’ve found the corporate world just isn’t designed for places like ours either. Member owned, lots of volunteer hours to keep things going. Golfer numbers dropping and most of those just want to pay a fee and play. They don’t want to be involved beyond that.
  18. The golf industry is tough. In much of the country it’s been overbuilt and the number of golfers has been dropping. High end courses so well but many are real estate ventures where the course is an amenity. This article talks about it. https://www.turfnet.com/news.html/tough-times-are-taking-the-fun-and-memories-out-of-golf-r834/
  19. You could get ours for less than $400k. It’s a bargain!
  20. It’s slow going with the snowmobile trailer. I’m a timid tower and feel like every bump is going to cause the trailer to come unhitched. And some of those roads have a lot of bumps.
  21. Demographics and a 10 year hangover from tropical storm Irene. We had to borrow over $200k to repair from the floods and the debt service is eating us alive. We are a member owned 9 hole course and the golf business is tough enough when you only have 6 months per year at most to make your money.
  22. We used our stoppage allowance at P&H Truckstop in Wells River, VT. They make a good omelette and bake killer bread. 6 hours on the road after that.
  23. I’m just looking to keep the course I’m president of out of bankruptcy.
  24. Drove across NNE today to Millinocket, ME. The thin snowcover was noticeable through the Whites and western Maine. I have more snow at my house than much of that area. Bethlehem and Twin Mt. in NH wasn’t good at all. It was a little better through. Berlin and Gorham, NH. From Bethel, ME until north of Bangor it was thin to at time just about bare. Dryslot looks to be in a snow desert just about. Looks like good coverage here though.
