  1. If I hadn't been away from work most of today, the drive would not put me off. I enjoy road trips. Probably would gas up before I left, sanitized myself and then not stopped until I got to the course, waved at Runnaway from a socially acceptable distance, stayed an acceptable distance from him the entire round (mainly because my ball would be in the rough/woods/adjacent fairways most of the time) got back in my car drive straight home and then immediately hop in a tub of sanitizer, which would sting many areas. All in the name of fun!
  2. Walked our course with the new owner and new pro today showing them around. Other than brutal wind and sub-40° temps, it was gorgeous. Unfortunately I am no longer in the position of being able to offer free golf to people or the invite would have been there. Here is a link to our, soon to be their website. https://www.northfieldcountryclub.com/
  3. If only I could make the drive
  4. It says the Silverado 1500 has a payload of 1750 lbs minimum. A yard of dirt weighs 1080 lbs according to the Google
  5. If all goes according to plan (fingers crossed and wood knocked on) by the end of this week the 93 year old, member owned golf course that I have been president of for the last 2 and a half years will be sold to a local person who will keep it a golf course. The new owner has a sports camp up the road and the course will enable him to increase his golf program and allow the course to remain a community asset. There have been many sleepless nights and heartburn inducing days as we’ve tried everything to keep it running and I know my already sketchy game has suffered because of the stress of running the place has put me under. The deal is scheduled to close Thursday and the new owner wants to open for play Saturday. We really did not expect to open for play this season so getting it ready for play is going to require a major push this week. For the first time in a while, I see a light at the end of the long, dark tunnel we’ve been traveling through. Maybe I can really begin to enjoy golf again.
  6. It’s more removing the flag stick that is the issue
  7. Light snow. 33F. Starting to coat the deck rails
  8. Nice. Good round. I always seem to play decently the first couple of times out. I figure I forget a lot of bad habits over the winter. They always come back though.
  9. I still get a kick out the Ginx blurry cell phone pics references. As soon as I opened this thread and saw these pics it was the first thing I thought of.
  10. The wind has been pretty stout. I don’t live in a particularly wind prone but I looked out once and my mailbox was shaking.
  11. I went out for a bit earlier. Down in the valley at 800' it was a typical gloomy day but nothing real awful, just up the hill at 1250' at my house tough it is windy with mist on and off.
  12. Unfortunately for me, aim still matters for putting.
  13. I fenced in my back yard years ago and rented a post hole driller. That thing was a beast and beat me up pretty good. I found out quickly that they weren't lying when they named my part of town Graniteville.
  14. I'd appreciate the NNE warm season thread more if it would actually get warm!
  15. I have a push cart but I go through phases using it and not using it. Most of my golf is 9 holes and I like not having to mess around unfolding and folding it, especially when you are rushing to make your tee time.
  16. We were hiking in the Groton State Forest yesterday and my son was asking about some of the old stone walls in the middle of the forest near 2000’ feet. I told him about settlers coming up and clearing the forest for farms. I the. Told him that as soon as land in the Midwest started opening up, many of them beat feat west as fast as they could. Can you imagine the look on their faces when they realized the ground out there wasn’t filled with rocks. They must have exclaimed “SMDH - Smacketh mine dang head!”
  17. I have never liked any seafood. It's weird, my parents loved all sorts of seafood and my son does too. I wish I did like it, it would make visits to the ocean more fun. Imagine having to be the only guy to ask for the chicken tender basket when everyone else is ordering the seafood platter!
  18. I ate a McDonald's Filet O' Fish once.
  19. I saw someone suggest greenskeepers cut holes shallower and leave cups sticking an inch out of the hole. That way flags don’t have to be removed and you don’t have to reach into the cup.
