  1. True. Though I've never seen hunters at the ski resort in over 15 years there. It would be one hell of an extraction from 3,000ft with no public vehicle access anywhere close. Is there any elevation limit to hunting? I know with a lot of things the state gets much tighter with regs up high. I think it would be an extreme stretch to see someone hunting up in that area, especially after reading this weather forum, but I'll edit it I guess, ha.
  2. Ran into this young bull moose for a second time in the past few weeks up on Spruce Peak. Still looking very healthy and his young antlers are getting longer... no tick issues noted (appeared to be thorns or burrs from laying down on his backside). I know where he's bedding down and he was grazing very close to that spot. He's got a large area of grass and ferns all packed out and flattened near the bottom of a ski trail.
  3. Sounds like working for an American company. At some level in most companies there’s a line between the haves and have nots. Day laborers and front line staff usually vs/against the corporate office, management or salaried folks.
  4. Yeah they did. There’s a good half hour of 90F obs on the 5-min data. Hit 90/52 for 28% RH at one point. Edit: Actually it was 90F for most 5-min obs from 2-2:50pm.
  5. That sounds like a reasonable conversion, lower temps 2F and raise dews by 10-12F.
  6. But that’s the thing, she’ll get the increase and a promotion while the laborers making the company dollars will get an extra 8 hours of PTO, so they can now take off 4 days next year (yay!). Also maybe a nice email from the CEO thanking them for their hard work during a challenging year.
  7. Someone made up their mind a week ago that this was going to be a very impressive, possibly record breaking heater coming up next week... I’m not even sure why we are still running the models daily. It’s set in stone.
  8. You can even hear the ticks shouting like hot dog vendors at a baseballball game... “Lyme here...getcha Lyme herrre.”
  9. True, probably the best of both worlds as it is. Can quote the backyard under-the-forest-canopy dews with the BDL temperature for maximum hype/effect.
  10. Just think how much hotter the summer could be without the trees.
  11. Ha, BTV has its first back-to-back below normal days since June 14-15th. Pretty good run there between consecutive BN days. But as discussed, things have changed from mid-summer’s relentless heat.
  12. I thought it was just “Awakening”?
  13. Ha, yup. All this severe drought and then in a month there will be Flood Watches out with some synoptic event.
  14. All I could think of was in winter on a night when everyone is in the 20s, ORH sneaks to 28F, STEM is 25F, etc that hilltop would stay 30+ all night? We/I definitely take the obs too literally, but I enjoy the nuances of New England climate.
  15. Sounds right, 60+ all night and no 50s would’ve meant you are burning on that hill relatively.
  16. Wow, STEM was 55F, ORH was 56F yesterday and 58F today. No wonder you have such bad pack retention with torching nights compared to literally everyone else.
  17. 37F SLK 39F HIE 42F BML Fogged out at 46F here.
  18. 70F straight till Nov 1st, then highs of 32F and snowmaking afterwards.
  19. 55/51.... feels straight up chilly for 8:55pm. Looks like the models did a pretty good job with this mild down.
  20. It does feel right on schedule for some cooler days. Not locked in autumn, it’ll get warm/hot again, but seems spot on climo wise for those first lower heights into NNE.
  21. Yup. This year’s snowfall for the resorts is off a bit. Granted it seemed the most snowfall might have come after closing anyway with second half of April and first half of May having some decent totals at elevation. I don’t remember much the second half of March and early April?
