  1. Both the GEFS and the EPS like the time around early October for the next cool shot. EPS doesn't go out far enough, but if you extrapolated to Day 11-12 it probably is pretty similar. At least a signal for another trough in the eastern half of the US.
  2. That's really solid. You love to see that these days.
  3. Yeah down there maybe, didn’t see any effects up here but we also got at least a foot of rain this summer. Dry Septembers aren’t all that uncommon...this is record level but in terms of vegetation I think they are used to a drying trend this time of year. Its just led to some great cold nights and high diurnal ranges under sunshine, fantastic side effects lol.
  4. Ha I love Stein. Great weather for outdoors and gets us a few more degrees at night. Grasses still green when they aren’t white in the morning. Let’s go Stein Diego. I don’t know when the last time I had to stay inside when I wanted to go hiking or take the dog for a loop in the fields. It’s awesome.
  5. They are just falling off. 4 out of the last 6 mornings have been 32F or lower here, starting with the morning of the 15th. And 3 of those into the 20s for like 6-7 hours at a time. The vegetation has to be so confused. Add in practically no rain for 3 weeks (0.35” since 9/1)...the trees are like we give up, see ya next year.
  6. Damn. The nearest PWS at the bottom of the Stowe Country Club hit 24F. Optimal spot at the bottom of several fairways in a backyard.
  7. 28F with freezing fog. Another white lawn of frost.
  8. 35F at 10pm, another hard freeze incoming. Tomorrow should mark the 4th morning in the last week of 32F or lower. That’s pretty solid even for here at this time of year.
  9. 39F here. Trying to keep pace with Taunton.
  10. That made me check ours... MVL running -2.2, so solidly below normal. Once today and tomorrow are factored in it should be at least -2.5F. Even BTV is below normal at -0.3, which is impressive considering their baseline +2F start each month, lol. Nice change of pace to have a colder than normal September. Starting around August 15th, it's been pretty solidly below normal in the means up this way.
  11. Getting darker earlier and earlier... shadows creeping in on the east slopes of the hills a lot sooner.
  12. Noticing around my place that leaves just seem to be dropping. Not great color but just falling to the ground. Wonder if 7 hours sub-freezing last night and the same the night before has just caused them to say we are done, time to fall. “No rain in three weeks, now nights in the 20s, pack it in boys, we’re done. Try again next year.”
  13. Day 7-10 QPF maps, that's all the needs to be said. I still think you're going to doubt any rainfall coming up though, regardless of prog or day. Shook but with reason.
  14. We know you won't believe it until it's actually happening. Even if a 24 hour prog has you getting half a foot of water, ha.
  15. Very frosty again at 30F. Looks like it was 28F at 3am but OVC rolled in and temps rose a couple degrees after that.
  16. Yup, that's what I was checking out. There are some cut lines in there, narrow ski width shots that seem to drop straight down. It's steep in there, fun to wander around in. The snow depth gets to like 8-10 feet in there during the solid winters.
  17. I was up wandering around today with the dog in the higher elevation rain forest. Even without much rain in 3 weeks it still seemed as lush as ever. Stein has trouble surviving up here. I guess averaging 80" of precipitation a year will cause the thick moss blanket found up high. Like walking on a carpet.
  18. 38F... ahead of last night by 2 degrees. Pretty similar. SLK already around freezing lol.
  19. I had never really thought of it until you guys mentioned it here, but that’s the slight burning smell I get when I fire it up in the fall. I always worried something was wrong lol. I bumped my set point up to 62F for my wife, we might get it tonight.
  20. It would be very cool to watch, I have a fetish for those small micro-climate changes. I don’t know how old your kids are but you could chalk it up to a fun science project, ha.
  21. I don’t know if you remember the old poster Logan11, I feel like he used to give a variety of obs from his property... in the woods, at the edge of the field, in the field, and he had all sorts of different elevations lol. I picture you selling your new house to move to the same elevation down the road but in a slightly more protected area... wife asks “Why are we moving only two miles away, we just got here?” “We need to keep our snowfall but get a few more degrees colder at night when the stars are out.”
  22. Yeah like a mini-SLK in there. Just an elevated hole in the ground, ha.
  23. Just put a station down on RT 2 there. I bet that down at the bottom of your hill is 5-7F colder, ha.
  24. Can’t have it all. You did great picking your spot, I feel like you’re worried there might have been something just a little more perfect if you could add obscene clear night cold, lol.
  25. Love that bunkhouse dude. What a great way to stash the kids somewhere else, ha.
