  1. Holy crap it’s 92F at BDL already? Up to 66F at MVL at 1pm.
  2. Yeah I hadn't looked in a bit and was surprised at how close the sun is to coming out despite how murky it still looks outside. Looks like mostly sunny moving in soon though once this last bit in north/central VT moves a few miles east.
  3. It is, ha. Luckily the rain looks to be through now. But been sitting around waiting to get to do anything outside.
  4. Just made it out of the 50s... up to 62F now at 11:15am. Rainy and chilly. This feels a bit like autumn.
  5. Figure out where the tropical storm tracked. August rainfall through the first three weeks.
  6. I've spent many summers driving ATVs and side-by-sides on the mountain, and take those up/down steeper terrain than most people experience... but I've never ridden a dirt bike or motorcycle. Something I wish I at least try in this lifetime, bummed I haven't yet.
  7. Yeah just a continuation of the torch autumn... snuck a lucky storm in there but what a storm. I'm still so jelly of that deformation band. Honestly, one of the most surprising parts of that storm was waking up the next morning and seeing you post pics of like 18"+ with cars buried and all that. That mid-level band got decently far north all things considered.
  8. Fall 2011 style... above normal fall then damaging snowstorm?
  9. Jer rolling into his patient’s eye exams leaning way back and riding low.
  10. As soon as I saw Jerry’s post, I thought of you.... Was like Phin must’ve just had a small stroke on his gorgeous deck .
  11. That’s insane. Louisiana meteorologists, “Expect a chance of hurricanes on Monday and Wednesday, but other than that it’s looking like a decent week overall!” Wonder what that 7-day TV forecast graphic looks like.
  12. A local Albany news station posted this shot of a storm earlier today in Saratoga, NY. Awesome shot by someone.
  13. Reminds me, my father wanted to know what the sprinkler did for watering so put a basic rain gauge in the sprinkler’s path to see what the grass was getting. After two hours of it going back and forth he had like 1/4th of an inch or a tad more of water in it. Ever since then I’ve always thought 0.25-0.33” range is probably the equivalent of running a sprinkler for a couple hours all over your property, lol.
  14. I’d bet it stays above normal in the means straight through winter.... so yeah not a bold call for AN through October. Regardless, averages drop so even above normal won’t be “endless summer.” Theres no way I’d put money on a 3-month period averaging below normal any time of year.
  15. Haha, yeah I just don’t see a hunter hiking all the up and in there to then have to carry a moose 1,500 vertical feet over variable terrain without any motorized assistance. But then again I’m not a hunter so I have no idea... but that sounds like one hell of a sufferfest. I’d think if you have a permit for a moose, there are far easier hunts in the NEK where you can just wait in a field off a road or ATV zone for one to walk by.
  16. Agreed. I'm really going to miss the evening hikes and just getting outside a lot with the impending darkness. Once it hits a certain point I start going into the gym again after work for exercise instead of up a mountain. Inside is a different animal in COVID world but we'll make due. I just looked at some photos from past years, and it is crazy that in exactly one month we'll be seeing some legit pockets of autumn color up here on the mountains... like that moderate color stage.
  17. It's always funny to notice the small early changes... and then it takes 6 weeks to get to peak. Though in a month (late-Sept) it should be well on it's way. Crazy how the summer is almost done. Flew by.
  18. I've been noticing a very subtle shift in the foliage towards that late summer tired green, but now seeing some yellowing on some crowns. Very subtle and early, but it's not the uniform deep green anymore. This is most pronounced in the 1500-2000ft elevation band for some reason. This photo covers about that elevation range, with that dirt work road cutting through upper right side is at 1,800ft.
  19. We have a wall unit but if I had window A/C units up here I would've pulled them out this past week to just allow the windows to be open and free. No way am I leaving my windows all jammed up with A/Cs for the threat of needing them on a random day or two when the majority of the time you can just let the breeze in. They look horrible too, not worth it for a random day or two in the NNE climo now.
  20. That’s terrible. What a thing to have hanging over your wedding day. Obviously everyone made their own decision to attend your wedding but to know it ended up killing one of your guests shortly after... that couple will carry that for a while.
  21. Lined this drink up pretty good. Narrow, training band but it’s been raining for a good time now.
  22. 6th straight day with a high temp in the 70s (77F today) and lows in the 40s/50s. I feel like I remember some discussion a while back about how this week would be filled with 70s/50s for some.
  23. Thanks, I took the 200mm lens up in case I ran into him. He's been seen by a ton of folks lately so I figured I'd have a second chance at photographing him at some point.
  24. A couple showers today, only 0.13" in the bucket though.
