  1. Not done yet though! They keep getting so many chances, they can do it. Red Sox with a win, too.
  2. List of highs from around New England. Apologies if I missed your spot. Big heat today.... from BOS to BDL to BTV to CAR. Noticed big differences in the coastal spots, wind direction means everything. Mid-90s at PWM, BOS... 93F at BVY. 8 hours of 90F+ on the eastern coast. CT coastline though had the dews but much lower temperatures... maxing 70s and 80s. GON stayed pretty chilly though, like 69/63 at 2pm. Beach weather? Definitely a north shore type of air mass delivery. BOS... 96F BTV... 96F BDL... 95F IZG... 95F MHT... 95F BAF... 95F CEF... 95F CON... 94F FIT... 94F LEB... 94F BED... 94F PWM... 94F LEW... 93F HFD... 93F BVY... 93F LWM... 93F CAR... 92F IJD... 91F MVL... 91F BML... 91F PVD... 91F FVE... 91F LCI... 91F ALB... 90F TAN... 90F PYM... 90F ORH... 89F RUT... 89F DDH... 89F MPV... 89F HVN... 86F BDR... 85F WST... 76F GON... 76F
  3. Interesting thing is seeing spin rates decrease recently in some good pitchers. This past week had several note-able pitchers see spin rates crash after this stuff started coming to light. I’m convinced every pitcher is doing it to some extent, but MLB has known it for decades...but now it’s getting carried away with sophistication. Of course, just like steroids, everyone is doing it before it gets cracked down on. This is their livelihood, millions of dollars are at stake, they’ll take every competitive advantage. And even if they don’t want to, they’ll do it to keep pace with everyone else. “All eyes will be on Gerrit Cole when he takes the mound Wednesday in Minnesota, after his spin rates dropped significantly in his less-than-dominant start last Thursday against the Rays. Cole, who blossomed into a superstar upon being traded to the Houston Astros in 2018, has come under some suspicion before. Trevor Bauer, whose own spin rates dropped significantly in a losing start on Sunday, made unspecified accusations a couple of years ago about what Cole, his old UCLA teammate, was doing in Houston. And then in January, a former clubhouse manager for the Los Angeles Angels named Brian Harkins, who was suing his old team over being fired after MLB had informed the Angels he’d been providing pitchers with a sticky mix of rosin and pine tar, revealed a 2019 text from Cole that indicated the star pitcher was essentially asking for a shipment of the stuff.”
  4. 90s all the way up through CAR... hot one region wide. Looks like even Quebec City area is flirting with 90F.
  5. Funny you say that. I noticed the same thing looking at some NNE sites. HIE and BML in N.NH, similar valley bottom sites around 1,000ft elevation. HIE dew is 48F and BML is 61F. Dews have been bouncing around a bit, have to imagine some localized mixing can lower them a bit. But yeah it's interesting when the temperatures are about the same and the dews are jumping around. You'd expect a temp boost with dry air mixing I believe?
  6. Touched 80F briefly on Mansfield. 90F in the valley. BTV 95F MVL 90F MPV 90F
  7. Yeah looks like the stations in town are running 86-88F with 85F up at the base of the ski area for the 1500ft level. I had to work this weekend so took today off, hiked with the dog this morning. The breeze felt good but when the wind would pause you could certainly feel the weight of the heat. The difference in "real feel" between breeze and no breeze was stark.
  8. Ha yeah. At the Ritz-Carlton in South Beach. Plenty of “networking” going on I’m sure. I don’t think any of them going to this have been fully sober since they walked off the plane, but at least I’m not paying for it . 88/60 MVL. 93/58 at BTV.
  9. My wife is in Miami/South Beach for a conference and it’s 85/71 there compared with 88/61 at Morrisville-Stowe, ha.
  10. BTV was 78F at 3am last night. Yikes. Over 15 degrees cooler at that time in most other spots outside the nocturnal southerly flow jet in the Champlain Valley.
  11. That was a terrible call. No doubt, it was well outside the window pane. This team takes advantage of those things it seems. They lead the MLB in come-from-behind wins.
  12. Red Sox finish off a 3 game sweep of the Yankees. “Everyone in New England goes to bed happy” - ESPN broadcast.
  13. With the 00z official highs in, it seems the northern VT/NH ASOS stations of MVL, MPV, BML, HIE all had highs of 90F. BTV with 95F. That's hot. Looks like IZG in Maine also hit 95F. Relative to normal, it's over-the-top anomalies type air mass. Just as hot in SNE, but NNE is trying to match it. Forum wide torch.
  14. Low 70s now, but it is muggy. Summer weather for sure, though acceptable now with fans. A/C off and doors open. I hate having it all locked up, love the fresh cooler night air flowing in even if it's more humid than refrigerant-cooled air. Montpelier and Burlington ASOS stations still in the 80s though after 9pm. Any mixing at all and it's very warm outside. Need to keep this stable cooler air in the valley bottom. If it mixes out, we'll go back up to 80F instead of the 70-73F local stations.
  15. There's a lot of theories about everything on Reddit, ha.
  16. Looks like BTV at least tied a record high, Plattsburgh, NY set a new record though. Montpelier/MPV had a very vulnerable record of 85F today and they got that solidly with at least 88F. Tomorrow's record is 89F and they may get that too but not nearly as vulnerable.
  17. You have some top secret files or some information on there worth a lot of money?
  18. BTV with 94F at the hourly ob... wow. Edit, ninja’d on the 94. Ha, still barely in the 80s at MVL (89F) and MPV (88F).
  19. DIT take his ball and go home right before the real heat hit? Where’s he been, he lives for this.
  20. 1pm up north: BTV 90F MPV 88F MVL 86F HIE 85F BML 84F
  21. Red Sox... this team has got it going on. Love to see it. Tie game in the 8th against the Yankees and they put up a 4-spot so far to try and run away with the game.
  22. Car said 65F driving from Topnotch Resort to home in the rain. It's cool enough that even with high humidity, it's doable. Rain showers around seem to be dictating temperature more than anything.
  23. Right before the real heat. I think the next 3 days will be pretty damn hot in the North Country. Monday looks to be the peak. I actually wish it wasn't raining, even this little bit could increase the dews. If it's not going to rain meaningfully (0.50-1.00" type stuff), I'd rather not add any low level moisture. Let the desert heat rule .
  24. Didn't leave for BWI with the heat coming in? Light rain here at 65F on the car thermometer arriving home. Definitely humid, dew point has to be close to 65F given the rain falling.
