  1. The funniest part is forum members remember severe events based on what Wiz was doing at the time. Selling hot dogs, score keeping, or inside working at the hockey rink during open skate?
  2. Yikes. Healthy fall in Tuckermans over the weekend. Local medical helos like DART won’t fly in low clouds but they got the Coast Guard out of Weymouth, Mass to respond with a bird to transport critical patient to Portland’s level 1 trauma center. https://mountwashingtonavalanchecenter.org/sliding-fall-tuckerman-ravine-2/
  3. Surprised to have it raining pretty good up at the ski area this morning. Looks like upslope rain on the radar. Forecast is for partly to mostly sunny with scattered afternoon showers. Hopefully this is just a brief flare up.
  4. Happy Memorial Day crew. Thanks to all the veterans who gave to this country. Was a great evening as the rain ended and the sun came out. It'll be a weird night, good fake cooling conditions but warming aloft. It's been about as cold as it can be this time of year across New England. It's still insane to me that this scene occurs after 8pm. It's light out very late into the evening.
  5. Marshall’s was still requiring masks next to Home Depot. Wife loves that hit or miss stuff for cheap in there... I listened to the Red Sox lose handily on the radio and hung out at the car with the dog.
  6. Me too. And honestly I like that. Not for COVID... just personal space, ha. This showed that there's enough room in a Home Depot checkout line that you don't need to be up my ass and I don't need to be up yours . We can wait and enjoy personal space.... plus there are damn dots on the floor, as a human it's very hard not to wait on the dots... they queued it up for us. Home Depot was probably 50% mask usage in Williston, VT... it seemed like a fair mixture of both. BTV suburb but it was about what I would expect for this time frame in the process...transitional period. It was actually the first time I had been in a big box store since the changes, and not wearing a mask was refreshing. Brought it with me though, as I wasn't sure of the policies. I then had to remind myself to stop being so damn nice to people, as whenever I saw or needed to pass an employee or customer with a mask on I wanted to put one on out of respect.
  7. Yeah if you are buying that you aren't "stretching your budget"... it's like Monopoly money at that point. But holy crap at the wind speeds this place probably sees for a residential spot... just exposure to the free air from all directions with no barriers at 2,600ft? Low level jet at 925mb racing across the grass. That field probably never has more than 12" of snow on it, ha.
  8. Ahhh that's the one that had so much drama associated with it. Or basically just the builder went full send without anywhere close to the necessary approvals.
  9. Ha yeah, the classic switch probably with the wind flow too. Maybe it was a little blocked/shadowed from the south too, but now that the flow is coming from the north into the Presidentials, it's much more efficient at precipitating.
  10. Deform band type stuff or upper level low attributed. It's been curling through NVT and into your neck of the woods. We just cleared out before sunset but it was wet this afternoon. All the echoes were going SE to NW and then just reversed course and started coming back from the other direction . Good in the winter, ha.
  11. I don’t know if it’s purely anecdotal but I feel like I’ve wanted better AC the past few summers in a row up here. Like 10 years ago it didn’t seem that bad, but again this is likely all in my head. We would go summers without hitting 90F, now we hit it in May, lol. There was one beautiful summer maybe 5 years ago with no humidity... tons of mins in the 40s all summer.
  12. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday next week are full on torch on the 12z Euro. 24 hour maxes each day:
  13. Yeah we've got AC if need it though I hate to run it. We have good ventilation in this place and being down along the river, near golf course and fields we get plenty cool at night if it's not overly humid. Our AC is a bit old though and takes a minute to cool the place down (it's the opposite of efficient), so I've been investigating mini-splits and we think we'll get that put in this summer. I think Tamarack mentioned it but those heat pump systems have some good rebates from state/federate efficiency programs. Of course I've seen your place and the cost to cool our 1,200 square feet is going to be a bit different than your zones .
  14. Yeah all set with this today. Need the rain to stop today so I can get outside, ha. Hate being stuck inside this time of year. That over-the-top stuff is usually more of the higher diurnal range drier heat, at least to start the first couple days. Usually eventually gets humid but often a couple not dry hot days at the beginning.
  15. Agreed. It won’t be a huge rain but it’ll soak. Give it time. Definitely a synoptic pattern where SNE cashes in on big precip and it drags out for NNE... but it’ll rain enough to matter. It’s damp for most of the day tomorrow.
  16. Inches and inches. Although the timing sucks, good to see SNE getting a real healthy soak... long duration rains too. Best type for the vegetation and water table instead of 3-4” in 2 hours of convection and flash flooding. A true synoptic rain pattern.
  17. 45F and -RN. Only 0.21" in the stratus so far. But that's about what models have... seems we'll take 18 hours to get to 0.50-0.75" maybe? Like a winter storm where it takes 24 hours to get 6" on the NW fringe, ha.
  18. Yup, Wentworth Road loop up there.... one of the weeniest snow spots out there, IMO. 2200-2300ft on the upper west side of the Green Mtn Spine. Going to get a lot of precipitation there. No wind direction is bad.
  19. Yeah that's probably the top. That is way, way up there. Living at almost 2,600ft must be wild.
  20. Yeah why is that even a question? Models and charts nailed this too, whether anyone wanted it or not though. Pretty impressive it’s working out so anomalously just like forecast.
  21. Yeah our local theater has booze service too... great way to watch a movie when they keep bringing you local IPAs, ha.
  22. “Yankees have scored 3 or fewer runs in 29 games this season. The only MLB team to do that more is the Pirates.” Hate to see it.
  23. Yankees swept by the worst team in the AL, and have lost 5 of 6. Rays won their 15th in last 16. I still have no idea how a team like the Rays just always seem to be very good with that budget. It’s amazing.
  24. 50F and been raining for a little over an hour. Not much, maybe 0.05” to wet the dust lol.
