  1. Sounds like what I’m doing right now. Brutally painful getting dragged through Christmas Tree Shops and Bed Bath and Beyond right now. Should be going on the evening hike, ha, but wife has other plans. No masks and you’d never know anything was going on. It’s weird to hear you guys talk about it on here, ha. People in Mass not going about their business?
  2. It’s always crazy how few people seem to understand that calling someone names, stupid, or even insinuating it with hyperbole just negates their whole argument. It’s rampant in politics these days. When all else fails, revert back to your 2nd grade survival skills… put ‘em down with scary words!
  3. I’m just stating what we saw up here in a place where hundreds of thousands of people visit each winter and folks routinely get smoked by various sicknesses every winter. The number of call outs due to illness was all-time low. No one puking in the bathroom from stomach bugs, no hoarse throats, no strep, no mono, … yes I’m aware people were getting COVID but I know I’m not the only one who noticed a vast reduction in the normal wintertime illnesses.
  4. Haha, I was just thinking as soon as Trix showed up you vanished. That would be one helluva conspiracy theory… schizophrenia. One part is Trix and the alter ego is Phin and they battle COVID all day long inside a single human brain.
  5. Purely observational, was it a combo of masking and hygiene theater that seemed to completely nip any sickness at all out last winter? Many people seemed to have their healthiest winter ever… not even a minor sniffle. I just know that from ski areas being absolute cesspools of sicknesses in winter (basically thousands of people a day with runny noses spraying droplets everywhere) from rental shops to ski school classes to lodges…. literally seemed no one got sick at all from anything. Or maybe it’s as simple as high self awareness that if you don’t feel right you stayed home when in the past you’d still go out for your ski day or work day? Combo of all of the factors working together? I see the studies on masking but I just can’t deny how little sickness there was last winter or any kind at all.
  6. They’ll find a way to lose even still.
  7. I still haven't looked, nor to I care to read threads once political groups gang up on each other.... If a thread is created to discuss certain posters and their vaccination statuses (if that's true), I'm not a fan. This is a weather/science forum... emotional responses should be kept in check. That includes any indication that someone is happy about an outcome that results in more serious infections or deaths, vax or not.
  8. Amen, I never step out of the NE forum, keep the universe smaller, but that’s some f’cked up shit if true. One of the worst parts of COVID has been humanity turning on itself like it’s a two team sport… hoping the other/counter ideology crashes and burns.
  9. This is a tropical forecast. The mins are the highest departure for sure... getting a run of upper 60s to near 70F mins along with upper 80s to near 90F maxes, that forecast is the "dog days of summer" up here. The POPS definitely smack of a continuation of the random heavy rainers. Seems like that pattern of hit or miss stuff that initiates off the high terrain and then drifts out from there. Air mass storms of Caribbean vibe over NNE. The BTV airport probably has a night where it's in the 80s at 2-3am, with a nocturnal southerly jet moving up the east side of the lake.
  10. That’s legit. If LCI is 95F and MHT 97F, I’d call that a hot day. We’d roast up here too.
  11. Lots of cream haha. Hiking down 2000ft in essentially a wet bathing suit, gets a bit raw. But you are right, that was no cold rain. Today was like water coming out of a spa steam room. 71/69 at local PWS… it’s gross out for 8:45pm.
  12. Can you hear the rain? That’s wild. Just bubbling over itself.
  13. I’m afraid I might watch or read the news instead, ha. Don’t think I’ve seen a single news story not from this thread since the start of MLB season… that was my life rewarding move, cutting all that out. Dropped cable… just NESN, Netflix, weather.gov, and AMWX is a helluva way to live lol.
  14. New and creative ways each night. Barnes almost blew 3 games in two days with a home run but last night in Game 2 at least Kike caught it jumping into the wall. Guess we need a closer now too, along with a lengthy list of other stuff lol. Nothing like hiking listening to the radio feed, while getting soaked and having that spoil a walk through the mtns.
  15. Just got fukked by the mountain pretty hard . Literally from like sunshine to the bowels of the atmosphere emptying on us on our hike. Middle of nowhere, no shelter either. Felt like a half inch fell in like 10 minutes. Completely drenched now at 3,500ft. The chaffing is going to be next level on the way down with wet shorts, ha.
  16. Local sportsball team scoring 6 or more runs for first time since July 21st is good to see…. Even though there’s plenty of time to screw this game up with Junkball G pitching.
  17. The weather can be whatever you want it to be. Temps on the Macs and Dews in the Forests.
  18. 79/68 That inch of rain yesterday evening didn't help the dew situation. Lots of low level moisture today.
  19. Everyone deserves to be themselves and be happy. 65/64 and 0.92” in the Stratus.
  20. Was surprised with how persistent the band was. Initial edge was water logged, local PWS rates were 3-4"/hr to begin except for the lower village. Stratus had 0.92" and it seems the local stations like less than a mile north of here broke 1". 1-2 miles south west though was more like two-thirds of an inch. Very localized differences but a solid soak. Even some spots exceeding 1.5", especially west slopes. 1.25" at the base of the ski area.
  21. Wonder if they had the AC running in Wedding Crashers.
  22. Total roll reversal from when you were breaking your TV remote like 3 weeks ago and we were crowd surfing. This offense has completely shit the bed. 0 runs scored in the first game against the Blue Jays, lost 1-0. Once again good pitching in this evening game from Houck so far but again the offense has scored zero runs in 4 innings. They can't hit a beachball at this point.
  23. They just stopped hitting in early July. I think they made it work and they were occasionally getting some decent starting pitching and the bullpen held it together. But since July 3rd they are 20th or worst in MLB in most batting categories. That's over a full month now of bottom 30% in the league in hitting. Scoring 6/7/8/9 runs a night can mask the pitching but once the core of the lineup went cold, you aren't going to win much by scoring fewer than 4 runs most of the time. Bogaerts is hitting like .220 since July 1st.
  24. Equivalent of a 68F or so at an ASOS. But yeah, got stuck inside this evening. Almost an inch of rain so far. Stratus inner tube almost full, thunder for like 90 minutes now.
