We’ve had some ridiculous dewy summers lately but this one so far has shown the opposite at least up this way. Maxed briefly at 65F dew up here last evening and then got beaten back very fast to 50-52F today. The number of hours at that 65F threshold has been near nil it seems. It just gets crushed fast by the lower heights in Canada. I don’t mind that look if the dew bros in SNE can dig it while it’s dry up here lol.

Had a brief thunderstorm earlier, huge drops only amounted to 0.04” and it was hauling east. A few good lightning strikes. NVT and NNH should see a few good overnight boomers, just hope the narrow trajectories line up with a given location.

June of yore. Lowest amount in my lifetime… it resonates. In the era of AGW, it’s nice to see that the atmosphere can do it. The late afternoon, early evening minimum really shows the prevalence of the dry mixed flow. That’s a textbook bar graphic illustrating dry air masses. Overnight radiating to the dew point and the resulting lag in surface moisture values during the AM as the condensed dew evaporates, then mixing it out dry in the PM.

Beer doesn’t give you visuals. To imagine western drought and everything around you literally on fire, that’s more of a shrooms or acid trip. Mild evening, 73/64. Had a brief thunderstorm, will see if we get anything else overnight.

Out on the front lines, dragging buckets of water from the lake to protect life and property. My dad lit his hedges on fire for a controlled burn to create a fire break for when the big one comes. Sounds dire down there.

84/59 up here at MVL. Up 31F from the morning low. Definitely the hottest day in a while.

It is pretty impressive how tenacious that NE trough is… looping the 850mb temps out to day 16 is just a continual baking of the center of the nation and every time it attempts to slide a bit NE it gets beaten down hard. GFS went full body trough over us out in mid-July on that 6z run. EPS continues to show big heat squeezed into PA and then just get crushed.

Into that time of year when sustained heat arrives. Wish the one day heat of 80s would persist through the weekend to be honest. Highs in the low to mid 70s on the zone forecast Sunday through Thursday. In this age of AGW, you expect a torch 24/7 but it just hasn't been there and really no hemispheric signs that it materializes through the 7-10 day. Friday... Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Warmer with highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent. Saturday... 59F at 9:20pm at the ASOS... the day before a short-lived torch. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Planning to take an after-work hike in the high heat of mid/upper 80s, then a dip in the river. Sweat it out, cool it off. Enjoy the heater days this summer because you know they are short lived and it's back to comfortable warm summer temperatures in the 70s for a week straight after that.

Got some water coming for someone Friday night through Saturday. Models are scatter plot with QPF but the take home message is there should be some water around.

Hopefully a less confusing month coming up in July too. A strong correlation has appeared with regards to temperature/weather patterns and confusion emojis on AMWX.

What’s current water temps down there? Have to imagine algae bloom chances are down across NNE waterways so far this summer without the bath water trajectory.

Some 75/45 obs from LCI this afternoon… that’s some high quality stuff right there. Perfect for vaca in NNE… and then get to enjoy a heater tomorrow. A little mix and match.
