While temps warm into the low to mid 80's today across Chesco humidity stays low. Tomorrow will be the warmest day of the week with highs above normal in the mid to upper 80's with more humidity added in. Cooler again by tomorrow night through Thursday with daytime highs in the 70's and nights again in the 50's for many spots. Records for today: High 99 (1983) Low 44 (1949) / Rain 2.59" (1991)

This morning's low temperatures made it down to the low 50's in many of the lower valley spots across Chester County. Here in East Nantmeal the low this AM of 55.1 was our chilliest low since the 53.9 degree low back on June 15th. Today will be a top 10 day of the summer with very sunny skies, low humidity and high temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 70's. We warm up tomorrow into the low to mid-80's but still low humidity. We warm up for just one day on Monday but yet again with more humidity temps should top out in the mid to upper 80's. More great cooler than normal weather moves back in for Tuesday through Thursday as we continue our relatively chilly summer here in Chester County. Records for today: High 96 (1914) / Low 45 (1949) / Rain 4.98" (1939)

Humidity levels should be a bit lower today before creeping up again tomorrow before a stronger cold front move through the area tomorrow night. That will usher in some below normal temperature nights with lows in the 50's both Friday and Saturday nights. Temps both Friday and Saturday will stay below average in the 70's for high temps. We should warm to back above normal by Monday before a return to normal late August readings on Tuesday. Records for today: High 97 (1997) / Low 43 (1979) / Rain 0.90" (1917)

We picked up 0.22" of rain here in East Nantmeal from our overnight rains. We could see some more showers later today before clearing up tonight. The rest of the week look to be seasonably warm with temps within a couple degrees of normal before falling below normal toward the weekend with a warming trend likely again for next week. Records for today: High 95 (1938) Low 49 (1924) / Rain 1.38" (1905)

If the summer months of June-July-August ended today this summer would be the 12th coldest summer across 130 summers since records began in Western Chester County in 1894. Of note 5 of the top 20 chilly summers have all occurred since the year 2000. By contrast as you can see only 2 of the hottest top 20 summers on records have occurred since 2000.

We have still only recorded one above average temperature day so far here in August. Through the 1st 11 days this is the 40th chilliest start to August in 130 years of records back to 1894. The next 2 days should see slightly above normal temps before we fall back to near normal for much of the upcoming week. There is a chance of a T-storm or 2 later today and tonight with a better chance by Monday night. Records for today: High 101 (1900) / Low 45 (1930) / Rain 5.22" (1955)

It looks like a great day today with near normal temps. So how cool has the summer months of June and July been across Chester County PA? At East Nantmeal this is the 16th chilliest summer so far out of 130 years of data. At Glenmoore it is the 33rd coolest summer to date with 67 years of records and finally at KMQS Coatesville Airport it is the 3rd chilliest to date with only 16 years of records back to 2008. As you can see in the graph below the average temperature trend is clearly for cooler summers than in our past here in Chester County.
