  1. That picture with the sun through the cloud canopy and deep snow cover is just beyond words to me. That is about as beautiful a shot of deep New England winter that I have ever seen.
  2. Looks like about 3 here in the heart of death valley. Light snow/poor growth. About what I expected for here but I am surprised southern CT didn't do better. I really thought it would really rip down there and for longer
  3. Nothing yet. I'm thinking 3 here, maybe 4.
  4. I thought one of the NAMs strengths was thermals.
  5. Interesting Westfield has had a few flurries for over an hour... sometimes there's big differences from there to here...although more often magnified in marginal events
  6. I'm squinting really hard and nothing yet
  7. Nice Teflon crust for the snow to accumulate on. The amount of ice underneath the snow afterwards is a bit concerning though. Could be tough walking around for a few days.
  8. That has happened here so many times. Wouldn't shock me in the least.
  9. The thump was just a gentle tap ...one inch Nice crust on it and plenty of slip sliding for the walking folk. All those who forecasted meh for a decent portion of the area....well done! Maybe I will take a ride to Greenfield to see deep winter
  10. Exactly! Longmeadow or East Longmeadow spotless.....Springfield...forget it What you described in West Hartford, I grew up with in Bristol CT
  11. Remember though Springfield is notoriously poor at efficient snow and ice removal. Gets almost the least snow and has the worst road conditions.
  12. Well everyday I checked in over the past couple weeks generally felt like I was at a funeral
  13. overall its turned a heck of a lot more active than it looked a week ago.
  14. That's an unbelievable stretch of winter weather. That is something I would draw up in my basement. I know they have a lot of lousy winters down that way but when things go right down there the results can be incredible.
  15. Looks like a little under two inches...just a few tiny flurries atm
  16. I didn't expect much but I am not sure if we even had any flakes lol
  17. I remember being very suspicious of the huge forecast for interior West and West Central areas. Was also very suspicious of the foot plus forecasts well back into the mid and upper HV We had just been crushed in 2/13. I had a hard time buying lightning would strike again so soon.
  18. Things must be moving at lightening speed in the atmosphere. Just a few hours ago snow showers ushered in some colder air and windy conditions. A few hours later the wind is diminishing and the shade of blue in the sky has turned lighter and the sky is peppered with some cirrus out ahead of the next change in weather. In just 5 hours.
  19. I HATED THAT STORM!! Partly Sunny, windy and frigid with 6 inches of Arctic sand while twenty miles east was S++++ and wound up measuring in feet that Tuesday. Widespread forecasts of 15 to 30 inches. It was eerily similar to Jan 2005.
  20. It is nice to see good ice on the local ponds. Legit good skating and ice hockey conditions and while chilly its a beautiful winter day with high clouds mixed with sunshine. Modest WSW breeze. The snow from Sunday hanging tough.
