  1. 15 here in the very southeast part of Springfield MA. I have it on good authority that just one or two miles away there is quite a bit more in Longmeadow but this is all I can report in good conscience. Very dense and kind of heavy to move despite readings in the single digits while it was falling. We had a good 3 inches already otg so otg totals combined briefly hit 18 inches or so. Amazing event just poor snow growth the duration....even what little fell Monday only had decent growth for a few minutes morning and evening
  2. So that's 100 percent impossible? So best we could hope for back here is a few inches but more likely a coating to an inch/ mood snow or just a cold winter day with lead grey overcast.
  3. They dealt with much bigger average depth and piles back in 2014-15 or is there more construction now over there?
  4. At least its something to watch...We have the perfect base for milder tepid SWFE....get a few fresh inches then put a nice crusty top on it and build that way but we're probably out of SWFE luck for a long time now
  5. No that produced well just south of the MA/CT border. I think BDL had 3-4 inches and just south at smaller airport 6-7 and I thought the whole Southington Bristol New Britian Waterbury zone was 6 to 9. The immediate shore crushed up to 20 inches
  6. I'm a little bummed about the snowgrowth Sunday and largely missing out on the fun stuff yesterday......BUT.....this was truly a remarkable event. The amount of geography that received one to two feet of snow is incredible. The antecedent airmass is one some folks may not see again before a big event. The amount of snow that fell into air temps at the surface from -5 to 10 above is unlike anything I have ever seen or heard of save reading about Feb 1899. This event will undoubtedly go down as historic for many reasons.
  7. Wish we could get some of that....that's what makes me not love this storm is missing the fun stuff at the end and only by a few miles
  8. Ok...Im right on the Springfield/Longmeadow line, the kid measured 14 out in the open in an unplowed section of road. There was three already otg before the storm started on many grassy surfaces...just seems a little high but Springfield is huge. We also had terrible snowgrowth and there's some serious meat in this arctic sand so I have no doubt believing we got 1.4 inches qpf.
  9. What's our storm total from this? I'll go with what you have. Way too many trees and houses here plus blowing and drifting to get an accurate read and they still have not plowed. Must be close to 18 with the old snow for total depth?
  10. Welcome! Its not the same without you posting. With all the small to mid size events we've had I often think of you and say to myself this is what PF gets to wake up to almost every winters day! Hope you grab at least a foot up there!
  11. How much on the ground old snow. I only have about three but figure you might have a little more up there?
  12. I used to have that kind of passion for big snowstorms. Life and surroundings eventually beat it out of me . The best thing about this one is that everyone should get in on the good stuff. I don't know how old you are but you still seem kind of young. The area you live in gets a decent # of chances historically. It could be worse young fellá, you could live outside of Brattleboro VT or in Springfield MA where I am. .t5_
  13. I know its OT but I remember that day in July 1989 so well. I walked to worked that day in the early afternoon. The partly sunny sky had a strange look and there was constant low rolling thunder to the north and west. It was warm and humid but there was a nice Southerly breeze. I remember lots of thunder storms later that afternoon. Then when I got home it was all over the news about Bantam and Hamden and parts of New Haven. It sounded like they were all rain wrapped. The damage footage was pretty impressive for SNE.
  14. I lived in Northampton Mass at the time and we had a solid foot. The overrunning snows had temps in the single digits but the snow growth was good and it was solid inch/hr from mid afternoon through mid evening 6-7 inches. It then lightened up but we got a couple more inches over the next several hours and then around 3 am the shield was really organizing but also moving SE and a nice heavy burst came through for about 45(3 inches!!) minutes before quickly tapering to flurries leaving a foot of powdery snow otg Then I watched in awe and wild jealousy as the eastern zones just got destroyed through mid morning while we had clear cobalt blue skies and bright sun.
  15. 1.6 on Thursday brings me to 19.4 inches for the season. Not bad on snow and pretty darn chilly at times with frequent freshening breezes. Looks as though we have around a general 3 inches on the ground before Sundays event begins
  16. Some sleet will help keep the pack more solid and and less likely to blow around on the coast...no ones loosing whatever they get for awhile.
  17. Good. Clippers are good. You usually do pretty well with your predictions on them.
  18. 4 and Windy I'll take that calm wind fake cold any day!
  19. And its going nowhere next week....what a period to build big depth. This can be the big one.Just give us a few two to fours over the next week or so after
