  1. 1.23" rain so far. 32.51" since July 1. when did i move to seattle?
  2. read the second sentence of what I wrote.
  3. maybe if you keep guessing dates you will get it right. It’s Nov 4. Winter storm threats are pretty hard to come by any location away from the ski areas this time of year
  4. couldn't agree more. i would be ok if this was a midweek event. having it destroy almost an entire weekend makes me sad. too many leaves to clean up, which you certainly don't want to do in the rain.
  5. i have the ambient weather ws-1002-wifi. does not save data on computer, but you can download it (which i don't do). it can post to wunderground, which is very handy. And it's right around $200, so it's not a budget breaker. I don't care too much about siting, just use it for my own entertainment.
  6. thats a horrible comparison pic. first one in full sun, second in full shade.
  7. weren’t we told that the first 2 weeks of Oct were to be an inferno? my high temp was 70 yesterday, and today and Sat look to be in the mid-60s. that doesn’t say torch to me.
  8. That third picture is really cool
  9. i have noticed the same thing on many trees. seemed unusual that there were apples on trees wtih no leaves
  10. how will I stay safe and enjoy the dews? Monday high 68 (62 as of 1330) Tuesday high 63 Weds high 69 Thurs high 75 Friday high 61 Sat high 63 good thing I didn't uninstall. i can turn on the AC and make it warmer in my house
  11. absolutely. 2" is optimal, but don't cut it too much shorter than you normally cut. i keep mine at 3" during the summer, went down to 2.5" for aerating/overseeding
  12. no, but it looks interesting. i have recently had a bunch of tree work done at my house and neighbors. I have them chip up all the branches and leave a big pile. if you want clean mulch, this is not for you. i use it to fill in low spots on trails in my area. the small sticks and evergreen "shrapnel" that is in the chips breaks down very quickly. in fact, the whole thing breaks down quickly.
  13. i knew Aug was wet, didn't realize just how wet. Mi casa: Jul 4.7 Aug 11.63 Sep 5.0
  14. this is the first time that I have ever heard of the great Lakes modifying air masses anywhere, especially in NE. I could see it on a micro level, kind of like an ocean front, but hundreds of miles away? Let me guess, more hyperbole from DIT, and he will say that he is "trying to drive discussion".
  15. yeah, but there is more snow in Methuen. it's a wash.
  16. lower dews would be spectacular. I went for a walk last night, temp was about 75. Broke a mean sweat, thanks to the farkin’ 68 degrees dew point. I’m ready for some dryer air. Dr DIT Dewpoint down there in CT can have this crap
  17. while I understand your point, I don’t think anyone reads those things, aside from us weenies, and perhaps a government official here or there
  18. Quick, spread some loam and grass seed. that will guarantee epic rains in your hood
  19. I believe Scooter works in the affected area. Hope all is well there
  20. ok that doesn't sound like grub damage. you are right, the turf pretty much disintegrates since the grubs chow the roots. how frequently and how much did you water that area? have you had a lot of rain? it sucks, i remember seeing pics of your lawn looking fantastic.
  21. well, if you were watering it regularly, it wouldn't have burned out. i suppose you could have over-watered, but that sounds like a stretch. have you treated for grubs? any easy way to check for them is to stick a shovel in the ground in pull back some turf. if you see a couple, that's usually not a problem. but if you see a bunch, the damage is done.
  22. I did that religiously after every use, my Scott’s spreader failed after about 15 years. The loose plastic wheel eventually rubbed through the leg and it broke last week
  23. heavy heavy aeration and over seeding this weekend.
