Jesus, this thread today is virtually unreadable. All I wanted to know was how this clipper worked out while I’m out of town and it looks like this went from basically a non-event when I left on Friday to a solid clipper putting down a couple to maybe a few inches. It’s hard to see how something like this would “bust” unless the ground truth ended up being a coating or something in that range, which it didn’t.

Because of one guy. Who needs to not @ me, but instead go to the complaint thread. No one wants to hear that shit anymore.

It was a fantastic winter day. 3.1” officially, with a lot of 3-4” reports. Some 5 and 6” reports in Beaver and Butler county. Some 2” reports to the south and some of the lower elevations around the city.

I haven’t even come close to that. I got 7 from the last storm and I might get 2 from this. The last storm was an absolute bust and didn’t even hit warning level for me,

A bust because the pretty color you wanted on the best model didn’t happen. But a widespread 7-10” did which is what was actually forecasted by most.  Storm was fine.

And yeah, I’m in a good spot today and will be at 13-14” for the week. But NWS I’m sure will wind up with 12” or so. That’s a great winter week.

Next clipper also looks to be about 25-50 miles too far north. Maybe that will chance but looks like it will follow the exact same path as this one.

What a freaking awful winter so far. 2-4 today turns into maybe 1.5 inches. Next clipper gives us 1-2 again while north sees 3-5, and out big storm turned in to a run of the mill 6 or 7 inch storm for most of us with a huge dry slot and p type issues.

We will have gotten a foot in the last 7 days by this evening, weenie.

Serious question before I step away, how many blizzard warnings in the past 30 years has Pittsburgh had??? Seems like we have trouble getting the extreme winds with heavy snow being so far away from the coast.

‘93 of course. Westmoreland and Fayette had them during the second (smaller) storm in February 2010. While the totals were more modest than the first one, the winds were howling. Before ‘93, it would have been one of the Jan ‘78 storms. And before that, Nov ‘50, unless one of those bigger ones in the 60’s had the criteria. But of course those days were different as far as warnings and criteria.

But I’d say that’s a quarter century type happening.

Lots of these reports coming via social media. You think its possible that some of these are being measured in an area where there was drifting rather than actual snowfall numbers?

Maybe - but it can work the other way too where the measurement was where the snow drifted from.

But good point as far as another reason that the numbers are all over the place.
