  1. Some crazy snow totals coming in for up here if all the GFS storms pan out. As far as this one the sleet line almost tickles me but doesn't really get in here per models. Looks like a good dump from Dendy (ish) to and north.
  2. 30.7F Moderate snow about 1/2" Band of precip is almost through here according to radar.
  3. 32.6/26 Light snow has started. Big mood flakes. The Kurchera clown maps have gone wild for us up here. Of course they are overdone but still eye candy. Here are the GFS and Euro's including the potential storm early next week.
  4. Models gone wild! Alex must be in Jamaica!! Always happens when he is gone. Boy, if we get hit with that 2nd storm early next week there could be some nice totals on the ground. Of course the Kuchera clown maps are always overdone but they are fun to look at... Meanwhile most of the roads in our town are dirt. They were just starting to soften up so our road agent banned them. No UPS delivery etc now until the end of mud season. This gets me going because everything is now going to firm up and freeze for a long time with this pattern. We only have 3 guys in our highway department and "Buck" the head guy only uses the Accu Weather app. I have offered my input but he is not interest. Okay rant ova.. Clown maps from Euro and GFS
  5. I just got a message from the SpaceWeather.com that there was just a X2.2 class solar flare. Could be some nice Aurora sightings in the next couple of nights. No moon either if we can get rid of the clouds. The Starlink Satellites also go by at 6:11ish pm tomorrow night
  6. I did just what you wanted to do. From a kid in Baltimore moved to Metro Boston after college. Worked there and bought a fixer upper up here. Eventually sold my business and moved up full time. Never looked back. Central NH is a great place. No crime, no traffic, beautiful landscapes and true 4 season weather.
  7. Nice thunderstorm this morning. Temperature is now up to 43F. CF shortly I'm going to post this in the general obs thread too. Wow, I am amazed how much colder I have been compared to places like Concord NH which is only 35 miles south of me. Boston is 100 miles away but the climate is so much warmer down there. I retain snow cover well and CAD always seems to overperform. I just realized that I have not hit 50F yet this year! Some close calls this week but surely not the spring weather so close by. I know there are a lot of frustrated snow lovers but a salt free roads and bare ground would be nice to see. My acreage faces south and finally we are getting some bare ground but everyplace around me is still snow covered. This snow is so durable. Below if a graph of my temps so far this year. Guess I'm going to have to wait for my first 50F!

  9. 36.3F Thunderstorm in progress. Some nasty close bolts
  10. Yup, I think right after my Jan 25th event
  11. I heard that in Vermont 3 people died this weekend falling through ice. Here in NH as far as I know Newfound Lake has only once not frozen over completely. That was fairly recently. It looks like that may happen again. We got close after the last cold wave but the lake has opened up since. Time is running out even if we turn cold again. The increasing sun angle really works against lake ice growth. Getting to that time of the year that even if it stays below freezing all day the sun starts eating into the snow banks and getting in the car is nice and warm. Snowcover wise I am still at near 100% but the first grass patches are opening up under my apple trees and on my steep facing south lawn. My snow stake shows about 4" remaining.
  12. 46F winds gusting to 36mph. Nice snow melt day but still no grass showing even on South slopes.
  13. Lots of black ice this morning. After our 1/4" of slush then rain the temperatures stayed right around 32F all night. The ground was still frozen. I expected the temperatures to inch up all night well into the 30s. Didn't happen. 44F this morning.
  14. It started as snow here at about 37F and fell to 33.5F during the snow. Didn't last very long but picked up about 1/4" before the flipl Now it is very light rain with a temp of 32.2F. Coating of slushy snow on the verge of freezing.
  15. 32.9/29 Flip has started. Light snow/sleet/rain About 1/4"
  16. Exciting stuff. Light snow started 38.6/26 How low do we go before the warm air comes in above?
  17. 37.5/25 Bit of an interesting afternoon up here. Since it will not affect SNE I will just muck up the NNE thread with obs
  18. A bit of an interesting situation today. I'm not going to post in the Feb obs thread as this will not affect SNE. 37.3/25F We should start off as snow but how fast it mixes and turns to freezing rain or rain is the question. GFS gives me 1/2" of liquid Snow cover is getting thinner. Lots of people will be snowmobiling this weekend if we can retain this cover. Hopefully this storm will be net neutral but the pattern doesn't look good. I was hoping that we could get that Southern system up here but the models are not really budging.
  19. Same here. This is giant golf balls coming down. Each one lands add like 1/4" of snow. I'm exaggerating but by far the biggest flakes of the year. Now it's back to normal size but that was fun. It's going to make Rt 93 a quick mess up here after what started as sleet.
  20. Meanwhile here are the have's and have nots. My pack is like a glacier. It has so much frozen water and sleet mixed in.
