  1. 73" of snow this year. Looks like Lava, Tamarack and me are in a 3 way race for 3rd place this season. Tomorrow's storm will bring me above normal for the season
  2. 3.5" 31F. Snowing at various intensities.
  3. 31.2F Moderate snow continues. Quick 1"
  4. I am surprised Gray has not issued a WWA since "the trend is our friend" 35.4/26 right now so we have some room to cool down
  5. Euro has about .25" qpf for you and more for me. It has precip starting as snow and transiting to sleet and a bit of freezing rain for you. Around 1" of snow. More snow for me. Models keep trending more precip. Here are Euro and GFS snowfall for tonight's event. GFS more bullish.
  6. Exactly Jerry. Low moisture "fake" snow melts right off. Up here the old stuff becomes glaciated. We still have a layer of Dec snow. So even with days of sun and 40F it takes forever to melt. Also because nights are cold in the spring the pack takes until midday or afternoon to start to feel the melt. I have such great retention. That can be a bad thing come the end of March when you want the pack to melt and it doesn't. Okay, back to the Euro. Seems like a system is going to give me accumulating snow late tonight. No one around here expects that as they watch the Friday night big storm!
  7. Sneaky, under the radar for tonight?
  8. Hum, this little system going through tonight. Trending heavier for Mark/Brian and me. Will we be cold enough for snow. Seems like an band of advisory sneaky snow in our area. The 12Z runs will be telling.
  9. I have to take back my former post of nearing 7.5". Since we were in the low to mid 20s there was a bit of blowing and drifting. I took several measurements but 6.5" is accurate not 7.5" 69.25" so far this winter season
  10. 26.3F Light to moderate snow. Approaching 7.5". It's all been powder
  11. 26.2F light snow 7"ish No shortage of snow 100 miles north of Boston. Deep winter
  12. 3.25" of fluff between yesterday and today. That brings me to 62.25" on the season. My average is around 80" or so. Not bad, the December storm of 19" really pushed up my total. Lots of possibilities looking forward but with warmer air the mix comes into the equation.
  13. 10F Light snow. About 2" in the last 2 1/2 hours. 2.5" total including yesterday That band of snow that past through us was impressive. True heavy snow, big dendrites. It is that fake snow that has so little water content. Snow has let up now, vis 2 miles
  14. Mark, only 5.4F Light to moderate snow here. Definitely fluff factor going to work! Newfound Lake finally froze over last night
  15. Looks like quite a bit of light snow for NNE this weekend. GFS actually gives me a few inches. Seems very bullish but snow may be in the air. Nice 17F day out there with the snow. Only 6" so was underperformer in my hood.
  16. Wow, I'm just getting some snow grains with larger sleet pellets. No snow. Weird and I'm 20 miles north of you.
  17. Part 2 has begun. It looked like i would be right on the snow/sleet line but hoped it would start up as snow. Not... 17.9 Sleet
  18. but even here it was an under performer. 5.7" with maybe 1" more tonight. Not going to hit 8" at this rate. I was expecting that 8-12"
  19. Mark, not quite as well as I thought by this point. 5.5" with very light snow, almost snow grains. We have had no sleet. Temp continues to drop 17.9F
  20. What do you think Brian for our area? I post my thoughts from time to time in our 7000 member Newfound Lake facebook group which if others don't know is just north of you. Any tweets you would suggest before I post this? Newfound Area Weather Outlook as of Wednesday 2/22 Very cold and Stormy Weather Pattern Upcoming Mother Nature looks like she is going to make up for lost time! The first in what might be a series of storms over the next couple of weeks will arrive mid or late evening. Snow will be heavy at times tonight with temperatures falling into the upper teens by daybreak. Light winds and dry powdery snow that will not adhere to trees or powerlines. Thursday morning the snow will let up in intensity but may continue lightly for much of the day. There will be a warm layer of air up at cloud level so the snow may mix or even change to some ice pellets (sleet) late at night or during tomorrow, especially in areas south of the lake. Temperatures will stay in then teens all day tomorrow. Snowfall totals depend on if any ice pellets get mixed in.. Highest totals will be north. Elevation will not make a difference in this case. 7-12" north to south would be my call. Thursday Night. Another weak weather system passes through. Although is will stay cold at the low levels of the atmosphere that warm layer above may make it warm enough at cloud level so the precipatation could fall as either ice pellets or snow. If it is all snow another 1-2" is probable. Friday and the Weekend. Lots of clouds and the chance of some snow showers. Extremely cold. Teens during the days and below 0F at night. Early next week. It is a long ways away but there is potential for another storm. Lots of cold air around so it could be another dump of snow. Even beyond this possibility there are more storms lined up across the country. In fact the weather models don't even show us rising much above freezing until the second week of March.
