  1. Wow...dead smack in the max precip bullseye. Will have to get ready for it.
  2. 5:00pm it's 90.5, which is the high of the day (so far), with heat index of 97 and dp of 72. So, day 2 of 90+ with at least 3 more to go.
  3. Hit 91.9 yesterday with a max heat index of 98 as dew points held in the low 70's. Currently 88.3 but heat index a little lower at 92 with a dew point of 70. NWS says my max temps will be over 90 every day this week until Saturday. That's a pretty long stretch of 90's getting this late in the season. All I know is that a week from today the normal high will be 80 and on its way down! Actually normal low should be down around 57. That sounds nice.
  4. Hi Guys...just a quick update to say that I've recorded only 0.15" of rain so far today. The radar looks interesting with our precip rotating down toward us from the northeast. Clearly we are no where near the western edge of Henri's circulation but I guess it must be that upper trough interacting with Henri to enhance the precip over us?
  5. Get ready @Blizzard of 93, @canderson, & @sauss06...it's rapidly approaching you now. Meanwhile the show is quickly coming to an end here...but what a show!
  6. Wow...what a storm with wind and hurricane force rainfall. I've picked up in the past 45 minutes over 1.6" of new rainfall for a total since midnight approaching 4". It's finally beginning to subside. But every time it looked like it was beginning to let up it just roared right back with more wind and heavier rain. Hope everyone is staying safe!
  7. I'm in the preceding downdraft which has plunged the temp from 96 to 83. That's with no rain effects yet but it does look like it will start raining here any minute.
  8. You just took the words right out of my mouth! The heavier cells have done what they like to do which is follow the ridge lines of Blue Mountain and South Mountain leaving a gap in the valley. It certainly does not look promising for me for anything substantial. The precip is just about to arrive here and the clouds are turning the darkest they've been and I hear thunder.
  9. Dark, ominous clouds now rapidly approaching from the west. Sun is now almost totally blocked and the heating has ended. Temp has now dropped back to 92.8 and HI down to 105. I'm hoping to pick up a decent amount of rain with this one. Oh, I forgot to mention that lightning detection distance is all the way down to 5-9 miles so it really is approaching quickly.
  10. Storms are still out in western Cumberland near Newburg. My lightning detector is catching frequent strikes roughly 20-25 miles away. It's weird being in an active severe thunderstorm warning while the sun is still out. One thing these storms will definitely do is cut short the heating of the afternoon. Currently 96.3 with a dew of 75.9 and a heat index of 109.4. So, I'm in excessive heat warning territory. Doubt I reach 98.1 (which has been my high the past 2 days) but it will be a race to the finish.
  11. Had a low this morning of 66.9 degrees. Last night the dew point dropped about 8 degrees from 74 to 66. That made a huge difference regarding comfort. Before that drop, I noted that my heat index did not drop below 100 until 8:05pm. The drop in dew point took place around 9:00pm or so and this morning it's a "refreshing" 67 degrees...lol. It might be interesting to see what happens with high temps this afternoon. I know they are forecast to be around 95, but with the dew point drier my guess is I'll be back up around 98 later today. It's just that the heat index will only be around 102 versus the 110 yesterday afternoon.
  12. Continues to be amazing here. My weather station is now in the shade. Shortly before 7:30pm the temp is 93 degrees with a heat index of 103...in the shade!!!
  13. I just checked and my maximum heat index occurred back at 4:05pm at a blistering 113.3 degrees. That might be around the highest heat index I have ever recorded anywhere.
  14. I tied my high from yesterday at 98.1, however the dew point was a little higher around 75 versus 72 yesterday so my heat index peaked at 110. It's still 107 at 6:30. Ridiculous!
  15. An hour later and the climb continues... temp up to 94.3 with dew point of 76.3 and a warning level heat index of 107.6!
  16. At 1:15pm my temp is up to 92.7 with a dew point of 75.9 and a heat index of 105. This is about the same as this time yesterday.
  17. High temp was recorded at 3:31pm which would be within an hour of the typical time of high temps. It was the drop in temp associated with the glancing thunderstorm that sent it down 22 degrees to 76 in under 30 minutes. I mentioned yesterday that the heat index which was 108 dropped 30 degrees to 78.
  18. I started off yesterday with a low of 66.9 and ended up hitting 98.1 before the storm arrived. Picked up a whopping 0.10" from it. My low this morning was 66.7. Today is forecast to be hotter than yesterday so I think I've got a pretty good shot at 100 (not that I'm routing that on)!
  19. I'm getting side-swiped with a thunderstorm running just to my south. Had a lot of wind preceding the arrival of the rain. Heat Index / Real Feel dropped from 108 to 78 in about 20 minutes. Actual temp dropped from 97 to 76. High heat for today is at least over. That cell over Harrisburg really blew up quickly and even blew up to the west of the river as the line was moving east.
  20. Oh, I forgot to mention that I was in a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday afternoon that dumped 0.21". This was the first measurable for this month. I'll have to go back and look at end of July to see when last precip day was. Obviously grass all around here is getting pretty brown.
  21. It just keeps getting hotter/worse. Sun has been out almost the entire time. Have now established a new highest temp for this year at 97.9. Previous was 97.4. Highest heat index of year at 108 degrees. We should be in excessive heat warning today as well. If I'm at 98 today I probably have a good shot at 100 tomorrow and/or Friday. So thankful for A/C.
  22. After reading everyone's morning lows I just looked at my weather station and it says I got down to 53.8 this morning. This ties the coldest low I've had since June 25th.
  23. It split here too but I could tell that in advance with the southwest edge of the severe thunderstorm warning only about 10 miles to my northeast. Got a whopping trace. However, the temperature plummeted from 80 down to 70 and the dewpoint as well from 68 to 59 as the storm was approaching. Feels very comfy outside now. I guess that's the consolation.
  24. Thanks for the correction. I knew it was really close to Halloween. That was the biggest earliest snow for me.
  25. What about Oct 31, 2011? I recorded 6" of wet snow Pretty sure it was a Saturday unless it was Oct 30.
