  1. I just checked and my maximum heat index occurred back at 4:05pm at a blistering 113.3 degrees. That might be around the highest heat index I have ever recorded anywhere.
  2. I tied my high from yesterday at 98.1, however the dew point was a little higher around 75 versus 72 yesterday so my heat index peaked at 110. It's still 107 at 6:30. Ridiculous!
  3. An hour later and the climb continues... temp up to 94.3 with dew point of 76.3 and a warning level heat index of 107.6!
  4. At 1:15pm my temp is up to 92.7 with a dew point of 75.9 and a heat index of 105. This is about the same as this time yesterday.
  5. High temp was recorded at 3:31pm which would be within an hour of the typical time of high temps. It was the drop in temp associated with the glancing thunderstorm that sent it down 22 degrees to 76 in under 30 minutes. I mentioned yesterday that the heat index which was 108 dropped 30 degrees to 78.
  6. I started off yesterday with a low of 66.9 and ended up hitting 98.1 before the storm arrived. Picked up a whopping 0.10" from it. My low this morning was 66.7. Today is forecast to be hotter than yesterday so I think I've got a pretty good shot at 100 (not that I'm routing that on)!
  7. I'm getting side-swiped with a thunderstorm running just to my south. Had a lot of wind preceding the arrival of the rain. Heat Index / Real Feel dropped from 108 to 78 in about 20 minutes. Actual temp dropped from 97 to 76. High heat for today is at least over. That cell over Harrisburg really blew up quickly and even blew up to the west of the river as the line was moving east.
  8. Oh, I forgot to mention that I was in a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday afternoon that dumped 0.21". This was the first measurable for this month. I'll have to go back and look at end of July to see when last precip day was. Obviously grass all around here is getting pretty brown.
  9. It just keeps getting hotter/worse. Sun has been out almost the entire time. Have now established a new highest temp for this year at 97.9. Previous was 97.4. Highest heat index of year at 108 degrees. We should be in excessive heat warning today as well. If I'm at 98 today I probably have a good shot at 100 tomorrow and/or Friday. So thankful for A/C.
  10. After reading everyone's morning lows I just looked at my weather station and it says I got down to 53.8 this morning. This ties the coldest low I've had since June 25th.
  11. It split here too but I could tell that in advance with the southwest edge of the severe thunderstorm warning only about 10 miles to my northeast. Got a whopping trace. However, the temperature plummeted from 80 down to 70 and the dewpoint as well from 68 to 59 as the storm was approaching. Feels very comfy outside now. I guess that's the consolation.
  12. Thanks for the correction. I knew it was really close to Halloween. That was the biggest earliest snow for me.
  13. What about Oct 31, 2011? I recorded 6" of wet snow Pretty sure it was a Saturday unless it was Oct 30.
  14. On the current radar I don't see any sign of the Johnstown severe TRW / possible Tornado. There's absolutely nothing out there. I'm referencing WunderMap radar. I picked up a whopping 0.05" with that line of rain the passed through here about 90 minutes ago. Stuff is going to have to form overhead out of nothing since the closest precip upstream is up NW towards Ebensburg. Currently 77.7 with a dp of 71.
  15. Overcast here with just waves of increasing brightness then decreasing brightness. High temp so far is 78.6 which I am still near. Dew point has been steady all morning near 71 degrees.
  16. Hi Guys... I'm thinking now might be a good time to propose the following given the overall amount of OT (and I'm not talking about just sports): How about we start a separate OT thread so that anyone and everyone who wants to express their opinions about any other topic other than weather has a place to do it? I've felt this way ever since the number of OT-related posts was quickly infiltrating this beloved weather thread. Would it really be that inconvenient to have to go back one menu level and select that thread? Better yet...how about you open a second tab with the OT window just a simple click away?? Just to cite one example of having the benefits of the OT thread...perhaps @Mount Joy Snowmanand his censored post from yesterday would have survived and would still be there today for others to see? After all, if his post had been in an OT thread, that would have made it much harder to be removed since the whole purpose of an OT thread is to talk about other topics. To say that I'm livid over the removal of that censored post would be an understatement. I never got the chance to read it...and maybe I really would have liked to. As far as I'm concerned that moderator...whoever he is...needs to come back here and give us his reason(s) for the post's removal. Wouldn't it have been much easier to have PM'd @Mount Joy Snowmanto discuss whatever the issue was that was complained about? I'll stop now before this post gets censored too!!
  17. Other than some minor street flooding not enough has fallen to create floods or flash floods. Unless the radar changes it looks like the heavy stuff has passed east and only light rain remains. Total up to 0.85". Had 0.35" yesterday for 2-day total of 1.20". Temp down to a much more pleasant 69 degrees. Much better than the 92.5 degrees earlier.
  18. After quite a lull I'm back in the torrent again...up to 0.66". >>Edit...0.71" now.
  19. Same here...had wind at the beginning but no wind past 10 minutes. Momentary let up with the dump even though current radar has me in deep orange/red. 0.52"
  20. The torrent arrived about 15 minutes ago and I'm up to 0.50" and rising rapidly.
  21. Enjoying is the last word I would think of. Besides I'm now up to 88 and my new heat index is 100!
  22. Yep...dew points in the upper 70's once again. I'm 85/78 with HI of 95. Yuck!
  23. In answer to your comment a little further back...yes, I did get in to some thundershowers. It rained heavily for a short time (maybe 10 minutes). All tolled 0.37" in the bucket today with 0.02" yesterday and 0.20" on Wednesday. Six tenths of an inch isn't much but I'll take whatever I can get. Looks like you and I are on track for perhaps an inch or more tomorrow. Can't wait! My low yesterday (Friday) was 67.6 and the high was 93.2. The dews were back up around 75 a good chunk of the day which made it really uncomfortable to be out, especially in the sun. Thankfully, I don't have to be out in the sun if I don't want to be. One of the perks of retirement.
  24. Well one good piece of news on the comfort front for today is the dew points. Near 80 degrees yesterday afternoon, it looks like they'll be about 10 degrees lower today. Who would think that a 70-degree dew point could feel "comfortable"?...lol. The sun has been in and out of clouds over me this morning. Current temp is 82 and the dew point is 69.
