  2. Yeah, I totally agree with building wealth early. The 18% of my paycheck that I save every two weeks will amount to far more than if I started saving 25% 10 years from now... But also lucky that I don’t have student loans, have a relatively high salary, etc... It’s not a one-size fits all approach.
  3. I went to college in Texas (and lived there for 18 months post grad) but grew up in the Boston area and now live in New York. I’m now almost 25... It’s amazing to see the “maturity” level between my friends from TX and my friends from growing up... Many of my TX friends are married and/or engaged... and even a few are having kids. Meanwhile, many of my friends from growing up are still “finding themselves” career wise and living at home. Maybe coincidental, maybe cultural... I don’t know. I’m somewhere in between-I’m single but have had a lot of career advancement relatively speaking for only being 3 years out of school.
  4. Just reserved six days on my Epic Pass: 12/19 Wildcat, 12/20 Attitash and 1/22-25 in Crested Butte. Annoying that you can't make reservations for pre-12/8 until the week of but who knows what the ski area opening schedule will look like with the warm weather.
  5. Yeah, I mean you’d know better than me, but the idea of Vail pulling my pass for skiing at Stowe without quarantining when I can ski Hunter, Wildcat, Attitash, etc with no threat of adverse action... Will make me ski NY + NH more than VT.
  6. You are not allowed in the state unless you want to lie and/or quarantine for 14 days.
  7. Snow into the Bronx? Do I take a weenie subway ride to Woodlawn in the AM?
  8. 72° here in my part of NYC. Perhaps closer to the water it’s cooler.
  9. I stated this in the spring and got flamed for saying it, but the reason why summer traffic in NNE has been as high if not higher than normal (it was in the Lakes Region where I spend a lot of time) yet there has been been no "spike" is because the people who ski/boat/hike in NNE are those in our region who are at lowest risk of infection. They are: -Whiter -Wealthier -More likely to work from home -More likely to follow public health guidance Most skiers at Stowe aren't from Chelsea, MA or Brownsville, Brooklyn even if they share the same county. More likely to be from the Back Bay or Brooklyn Heights. I don't mean it callously-I wish the social and medical inequities in this country were not so apparent... But it's the reality of what's going on in our country.
  10. The mask requirement on hill.. Is it a surgical/cloth mask that goes around your ears or can I wear a fleece mask like I’d normally wear? Seems heavy handed given the outdoor environment.
  11. 86 on the car thermometer in Tilton as I begin my drive southbound from the Lakes Region.
  12. I’m in Chatham right now and it is absolutely beautiful. 68 and not a cloud in the sky.
  13. I was on Route 3 driving up to NH earlier and hit some of the hardest rain I’ve ever driven in... Thought I was in South Louisiana not Chelmsford. This was at about 7:35.
  14. They're opening the Jersey Shore for Memorial Day weekend and yet people can't go ski Tuckermans... Ugh!
  15. How much snow at the high elevations on Mt. Mansfield?
  16. Just booked a last minute impulse trip to Montana for Presidents’ Day weekend. Flying into Missoula, going to ski three days. Probably one at Montana SnowBowl and two at Lost Trail. Lost Trail tickets are $49/day for 325” of snow per year and 1000 acres. Snow Bowl is $52/day for 300” and 900 acres. Can’t beat it.
  17. I skied Hunter yesterday.. It was hard but manageable until about noon and then just got really really slick after that. Still banged out 27 runs from 9:15-2... Not hard when you’re skiing fast and the high speed lifts have no lines!
  18. Anyone skied Hunter lately? Debating whether I want to drive up from the city in the AM to get some NYD turns in (I have the Peak Pass). Obviously expecting lots of ice/scratch but want to make sure trails are well covered...
  19. I live right on the Plano/Frisco line at the DNT/Sam Rayburn and much like in Fort Worth, the temp is at 32 here but nothing is icing. Just wet and nasty.
  20. Pretty nice thunderstorm here in Frisco for the first time in a while. Had some friends down in Addison that lost power.
  21. Never have lost power for more than an hour in Concord over the last 20 years... Also has their own power company.
  22. Dumping here in Concord smack dab in the middle of that band.
  23. I know this thread isn't 100% related to what my question is, but it was the first one to show up in my search so..... Here I go! I'm a junior in high school who is interested in Meteorology, but right now I'm thinking I may be inclined to major in Aerospace engineering as it is a subject I really enjoy as well and the job prospects seem somewhat better. It is obviously a bit early, but I am compiling a list of prospective colleges to look at/apply to... So far, these are some of the schools on my list.. -University of Texas -University of Washington -Georgia Tech -Rice University -University of California San Diego As might be able to tell, I am not really into staying around New England, but that could change. So after all that background, my question becomes, do any of these schools have Meteorology programs, and if so, what are their reputations? If I start college and don't like Aerospace, it'd be good to have Met as a fallback. Also, if there any other schools you guys think of that might suit my desires, I'm open to suggestions.
