  1. Where do you see Mt Mansfield in this picture? Im squinting and can’t find it haha :)!!
  2. Yeah, I’ll stay away from TSLA... People are acting like the bottom fell out on it but it’s quite literally trading at late November levels. The one stock that’s in the AARK/Growth sphere that I like is BMBL. I think it’s an underrated “reopening” trade, but I also think MTCH is ripe to get some market share stolen from them. Another stock that IPO’ed via SPAC within the year that I like is UTZ. It’s still a little pricy at 24/share but if it drops below 20, I’ll be a buyer again (held from 19 to 26 earlier this year). It’s a pure market share play on salty snacks. If you look at similar CPG categories, salty is by far the outlier in the amount of market share held by one company (PEP/Frito-Lay with greater than 60%). UTZ has always been a strong regional player but they’ve made some acquisitions that will really give them a good national footprint. Using a “sum of parts” valuation, most analysts value PEP’s Frito-Lay division at ~$70-80B. UTZ’s current market cap: $2.1B.
  3. I assume you meant "traditional" not "traditional Roth." With a traditional IRA, whether or not you can contribute while also having a 401k offered through your employer depends on your income and marital status. Here's a good chart: Traditional IRA Income Limits If your filing status is… And your modified AGI is… Then you can take… Single, head of household, qualifying widow(er), married filing jointly or separately and neither spouse is covered by a plan at work Any amount A full deduction up to the amount of your contribution limit Married filing jointly or qualifying widow(er) and you're covered by a plan at work $103,000 or less A full deduction up to the amount of your contribution limit More than $103,000 but less than $123,000 A partial deduction $123,000 or more No deduction Married filing jointly and your spouse is covered by a plan at work $193,000 or less A full deduction up to the amount of your contribution limit More than $193,000 but less than $203,000 A partial deduction $203,000 or more No deduction Single or head of household and you're covered by a plan at work $64,000 or less A full deduction up to the amount of your contribution limit More than $64,000 but less than $74,000 A partial deduction $74,000 or more No deduction Married filing separately and either spouse is covered by a plan at work Less than $10,000 A partial deduction $10,000 or more No deduction
  4. Depending on one's income situation, a traditional IRA rather than a Roth IRA might make sense. There are some caveats to this, but generally speaking, if you believe your effective tax rate today > your effective tax rate in retirement, you should be plowing money into a traditional IRA rather than a Roth.
  5. I got my first dose on Wednesday after leaving my name and phone number at a nearby Walgreens two weeks ago... Told them to call me if they had any leftover at the end of the day. After two weeks of not hearing anything, I had kind of figured that they either never had extra, or when they did, they were able to find people in-store to take it. At 6:30ish Wednesday night, my phone buzzed and I walked over and was jabbed. No side effects besides a sore arm for 24 hours... I don't really have too much guilt about getting it "before my time" as it seemed as if the vaccine was just going to go bad if I hadn't taken it..
  6. It’s not necessarily super effective against disease prevention of the variants (60-70% is still good though) but it’s definitely effective against severe outcomes.
  7. I think many people seriously underestimate how much Covid has warped some people’s mental state. I know people who were well-adjusted, social beings just a year ago who now scold me, a healthy 25 y/o who lives alone who rarely interacts with anyone over the age of 45 and pretty much nobody over the age of 60 for doing outdoor dining with friends. Some people also have no sense of risk-mitigation vs. risk-elimination. Personally, I have to have some semblance of a social life to stay sane. However, I’ve generally tried to stick to the principles of outdoors>indoors, getting tested before/after traveling, avoiding elderly/frail, etc.
  8. What are you running on snow-depth-days YTD?
  9. Holy crap re: Pats Pizza https://www.dotnews.com/2021/infant-found-alive-lower-mills-trash-barrel
  10. Have you ever had a hail event during the winter on Mt Mansfield? I wonder what it would be like to ski on it.
  11. Looks like you’re in a tough spot for this one. Pounding on the Wildcat cam.
  12. Looks like Phin was right... Covid casualty. "Will there be night skiing this season? Traditionally, night skiing is offered starting the week of December 26th. However, due to the additional housekeeping requirements that are going to be necessary to fully sanitize the buildings after a peak day, we will not be able to offer night skiing at this time. We will continue to re-evaluate throughout the ski season so please check the website for the most up to date operating schedule." https://www.brettonwoods.com/Plan2021Tickets
  13. Another great snow spot east of the Rockies is Houghton, MI. Averages 202” which impressive for a low elevation spot (though it’s influenced by the lake).
  14. BW had night skiing up through the mid-2000’s... Because I remember seeing the lights when I skied there for the first time as an 11 y/o in April ‘07 (great snow month). In terms of night skiing in NNE, a number of places have it. Shawnee Peak (not super, super far from Randolph) would probably most be best for you and the family. Gunstock, Bolton Valley, Big Rock, and Camden Snow Bowl are a few other places I know have night skiing.
  15. It's NH school vacation week. Always the week after President's Day week. Maybe the Hampton Beach crowd?!
  16. I skied Hunter yesterday and south/east facing aspects softened slightly... Enough to make the moguls icy, but skiable.
  17. Not sticking at all but the massive aggregates are fun to look at!
  18. Dumping aggregates in Financial district.. Not sticking though.
  19. Always tough to tell how much we have in the city unless you're in Central Park but we've had steady, moderate snow for the last couple hours. Thinking 4-6" here.
  20. That's Austin.. Houston didn't get much more than an inch. Blizzard of 1895 still reigns supreme.
  21. Scene from a friend’s Instagram in Houston today.
  22. 6Z GFS doesn’t look terrible for NNE, especially the mountains.
  23. Waco will have an outside chance at their all-time daily snowfall record. 13.0"... Set in the 1920's.
