I can smell it outside right now.

Noticed last week around Narragansett RI they had water ban signs up all over town. They also had all the beach showers and water turned off. I think Narragansett uses groundwater wells and they are exceptionally low. The Providence Journal just published an article yesterday but its paywalled. Here is the headline. To understand why Gov. Dan McKee, in June, declared a drought watch for only the second time in Rhode Island in 24 years, you need only look at the precipitation numbers over the last 12 months. In nearly every month since June 2025, the state has fallen short of the historical average, leading to a cumulative deficit of 13.4 inches for the year and a total that’s at only 80% of where it should be.

Nice band from HVN east along 95. That stuff over LI is slowing moving north towards BDR as well.

Man look at those training cells out west over NY. Someone is going to get absolutely crushed. Wonder if we see a repeat of 08/17/2024.

Haha. Right over New Hampshire the only New England state that sells good aerial fireworks. Going to be an extra special smoky 4th up there.

What a night for Newark with a low of 85 and a heat index of 95.

Just got in from dinner at Matunuck in Wakefield. Car said it was 68 and some of the girls were complaining it was windy and cold under the tent. High was 74 at my Wunderground station on Judith.

I am heading to my sister's beach house in Narragansett out on Pt Judith today. Same thing there where only a north wind will bring in any heat. Its absolutely wild to leave there when its like 72 degrees and you get to Providence and its 102. I setup a wunderground station there a few years back. High was 72 yesterday and its only briefly touched 80 3 times this year. Probably one of the coolest locations outside of an island in New England.

Some special Miami style nights coming up. Forecast low temperatures in the lower 80s across NE NJ and NYC Thu night and Fri night. Heat index values not expected to drop below the lower 80s in NYC and immediate surrounding areas Wed night through Fri night, making for little to no recovery from heat stress Wed through the day Sat.

Congrats GON with a drought busting 3 inches of rain.

BDR needs the rain badly. That area is torched. Thinks its been close to like 20 days since they had any decent rain over like a 1/2 inch.

Yeah. I lived in the Burlington area back in the early 2000s and was blown away how cloudy it was up there. Its been like 10 straight days of sun here on the CT shoreline. My solar panels have been absolutely cranking in production efficiency.

Danbury looks like a good spot. Storms over western PA in this environment are consolidating, and expectation is that they could arrive a little ahead of HRRR forecast, reaching the lower Hudson Valley and NE NJ between 6-8 PM, then continuing E across NYC, Long Island and S CT through the evening. SPC forecasts a slight risk of severe tstms for most of the area, with a 30% damaging wind threat from about NYC north/west.
