I lived in Southern Lexington County for 25 years. Hoping for winter weather down there (especially this early) is a recipe for ulcers. I feel your pain, Oburg.
Wow, almost 4"? Nice!! You on a west facing slope? I just went and measured around my neighborhood, the most I found was 3.25" with 2" max on my property. It's some seriously fluffy stuff. My neighbors seem to be enjoying it too.
I found 2.25" at 5300' near the top of Wolf (the very NW tip of Yancey County.) We've had flurries all day but now it's picking up a little more. Currently 16°.
They never got it right up here last winter either, Joe. Not for Wolf anyway. I vividly remember them forecasting an inch max late last October and we had 4-6" on the ground.
Finally had a chance to share a couple of pics from the ice storm. It's no surprise we have so many trees down with this type of accretion. (Just took this about 15 minutes ago...it never thawed today.)
Welcome man! I moved to Asheville from the midlands the day of the flood and bought a house in Wolf Laurel last June. Just wait, winter is great up here! My name is Timm.
