  1. Yep that was me. It's pretty bad with 2 fractures, a radial and a bone chip, and a torn deltoid ligament. She's going to be laid up for a few months at best.
  2. I thought it had ended around 7 when I posted but it just keeps going. Not hard, not really of consequence at all but the flakes keep falling.
  3. Long duration storms and long duration snowpack is (for me) the determining factor in a good storm and good winter.
  4. And now it's legitimately heavy snow again and as it cooled off everything that had melted off is instantly covered in a nice thick coat of white again. 30/28/W2/SN+
  5. And I thought it was over... Nope, snowing nicely again. Not great growth so small flakes so far but it's covering everything that had melted off and since it's already pretty much the end of the day it looks like another night with snow covered streets. 31/28/N3/SN- :: Just as I'm about to hit submit the flake size started growing. Looks good out there again.
  6. This one is within a few minutes of being done here I think. That will make it a few minutes shy of 28 hours on non stop precip (unless it stopped for a few minutes when I was asleep but I don't think it did). My total hasn't budged since this morning after the heavy burst of big flakes so 4.5" it is but it's the densest and most interesting texture I've dealt with in a long time. I've totally enjoyed this storm and would take a few more just like it. Gonna go do a final scrape with the pusher shovel and see if the filtered sunlight can melt some of this stuff off a little.
  7. It ought to be over here pretty soon now. Nice storm. I'd take another couple just like it but not for another 9 days. I gotta get this new driveway dug in up the front lawn because I need to move my wife around a few times next week before the surgery then get her back into the house Friday evening after it's over before her pain meds wear off.
  8. My wife needs surgery next Friday and we have doctor stuff Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday leading up to it so small or nothing is my preference until she's back home and doesn't need to be moved around. See what you can do to make this one go away. Thanx.
  9. The sun is bright through the clouds now but it's still snowing nicely, temp is popping above 32 right now so cleared surfaces are melting off. 27 hours of non stop precip with every type of frozen other than convective types with 13 hours straight of frozen crystals of some sort and a 30 minute sleet layer has made this one of the densest and most interesting textures in a long time. While I will only end up with 4.5" total it has been a very entertaining storm. 34/29/NE2/SN-
  10. I'm just short of 27 hours of non stop precip now. Those micro granules as you called them fell for 13-14 hours straight and made for one of the toughest to shovel substances I've seen in a while. It was like it was bonded to the surface underneath and packed in so tight it peeled off in layers rather than breaking up and lifting off. It's windy now and snowing sideways as often as down, spots that people managed to shovel down to pavement are staying clear and even melting off somewhat, cars that were brushed off are melting off too but it's snowing hard enough that it's accumulating on pretty much everything else. We are definitely to the point in the year the solar insolation matters. It's just popping above 32* here now so the accumulating part is probably done. 32/28/NE2/SN-
  11. Sun is out again while it's snowing nicely. Too cool. Easily 2" since 5pm, probably a bit more but I haven't been outside yet to check. I get the sense that it's drying up but radar looks good for a while longer.
  12. Good morning all. It's still snowing here! I obviously slept some but not a lot and not for very long at a time and unless I missed a short no snow falling period it's 21 hours non stop now. It has been light with very small flakes since about 5pm yesterday and has been the slowest accumulating snow I've seen in a very long time, it has only built up about 1.5" since that time bringing the total to ~4.5" for the event. 24/23/NE3/SN-
  13. If not exciting means 16 hours of non stop snow with nearly every type of frozen precip in varying intensities then this qualifies.
  14. It's still snowing, 16 hours straight now. 24/23/NE3/SN-
  15. This has been a great little storm. I've had every type of frozen precip today and it's been coming down non stop for about 12 hours now. Right now it's tiny flakes packing in super dense and laying down a squeaky carpet. I know that the radar says it isn't snowing here but it is, I love that stuff almost as much as the snowglobe heavy fat flakes snow that was faling with the sun out this afternoon. 23/21/ENE Vrbl/SN-
  16. Radar says it's not happening but it is. This is the most persistent light accumulating snow in a while. It just keeps falling. Tiny flakes leaving a super dense coating, it's literally scraping it off the ground to move it. The first few inches early today were beautiful, then a spot of sun with moderate large flake snow, then a crunch layer laid down for a couple of hours and now it's been this stuff for almost 3 hours. I'd call it over 3" total accumulation, while I was expecting more like 6-7 this surely isn't disappointing due to the variety of precip types and duration of non stop precip. I'm passing 12 hours non stop which is always cool.
  17. No the roads get worse as you come south. Even Rt 6 is snow-covered now. I'm still getting frozen precip, sometimes it's falling sideways which is fun. I have over an inch since it restarted but it has been a variety of precip types ranging from freezing mist to fat flakes doing the snowglobe thing.
  18. 25/23/NE3/SN Snow has definitely picked up with good flake size and it's accumulating quickly as would be expected at 25* and unsalted/unplowed today so the streets are totally covered.
  19. Boom. Back to a steady light snow that looks like it's ramping up. Thanks goodness the freezing mist and sleet is over.
  20. Nah that's late 80's/early 90's Tahoe/Mammoth verbiage. Think surf crowd lifted 6k feet. Sorry bro This mist is super fine and encasing everything now. Ick
  21. The redevelopment is happening now here and it's more frozen than white. 2+" of really nice snow down so that puts me over average for the year which is nice but now it's getting crusted again. Does everyone else have a block of white matter after the warmth the other day? This stuff is durable!
  22. 25/21/N3/Freezing mist again After getting a beautiful, fluffy 2+" I went out to move it and it started sleeting and now it's a snow soaking, ice coating disaster unfolding.
  23. Cloud deck is thinning noticeably all of a sudden. Radar makes it look like the northern edge is about to sink south of me. I love when it's snowing fairly hard and the sun comes out.
