  1. The radar is lying right now. I had 37 raindrops and that was a while ago.
  2. Today's minor wetness crossed the river then dried up as it lifted over the Highlands and west slope of the Taconics.*poof*
  3. I got enough raindrops to wet some of the plant leaves in my garden. Yay.
  4. The humidity is gone which is nice but if I didn't know I did it I wouldn't be able to tell that the garden got a good, deep soak yesterday while it was wet from the rain. It is awfully nice out there this morning so get outside and enjoy it.
  5. I won't water the yards, I hesitate to call what I have lawns. I went and added it again and it was 2.3 (including today's .06) since 6/10. Of that only 2 events were over .5 and most were under .1. Those small events are as close to useless as it gets when the soil is duff 6-8" down and it doesn't get past the trees either so effectively I've had 1.6" that mattered.
  6. It was dry but sufficiently moist to get the growing season off to a good start. Then it dried out by the middle of the second week of June and it just keeps getting worse. A few days ago I added it up from two of the closest stations to me and it's under 2" in 6+ weeks. Today looks like it's nothing more than drizzle, wind and clouds unless there's something else later. The reservoirs all seem to be holding strong but the feeder creeks and the Croton River are way down.
  7. The sun popped through for about 4 minutes and the temp jumped 5°. Now the wind is up as the clouds fill back in.
  8. I've had dense clouds since a little after 5:30 this morning and it's still 79/76. If you're thirsty just inhale deeply...
  9. I got . 01. I'm kind of surprised it even registered as the few drops literally evaporated as they got near the ground. So it looks like we're gonna get wet soon but will it split or fall apart as it gets here like everything else this year?
  10. I'm under 1.5" for the month, this says over 2.5. This outflow boundary that's moving through is pretty cool. Big wind and awesome clouds.
  11. That's some crazy wind and black, bubbly clouds out there right now. Good show
  12. The misting is just to cool the surfaces down, the soil doesn't usually end up more than damp but I find much happier plants when I do it on these hot days. When I'm watering deeper I only go right at the base of the plant so it dries more quickly than if I do a full soak so it needs a second shot. It uses a lot less water and keeps the leaves and soil dry so I have less disease, rot and bugs.
  13. I water strategically. Usually around sunrise, then I'll do a 10 minute mist once or twice during the hot periods because most of the garden is in and out shaded and then another good deep watering in the early evening. If I wasn't on a well this would be unsustainable.
  14. Some fully exposed ground got wet. It even stayed wet for about 10 minutes. That was nice.
  15. Did anyone get wet today? @DRVTSdid it rain at your place? It looked like you were getting it pretty good from my hill.
  16. Yeah we had our puppy with us today and she wouldn't step off the concrete sidewalk to the asphalt parking lot after the first step.
  17. My backyard is such a respite on days like these. The sun really only gets the patio for 2 or 3 hours and the yard is ringed by 75 footers. Then as you head just downhill it's all exposed and much warmer. This creates a little breeze as the cooler shady air gets pulled down to where the hot air is rising. Don't you love when you're driving along and the AC is getting warmer not colder Uggh
  18. I haven't looked into it but I think that was a regional thing rather than a larger scale setup. It would be interesting to see if there's a similar delay in the seasonal changes elsewhere.
  19. .87. The garden was happier today than any other day this summer.
  20. Nope. Well, maybe in a few spots but not the whole region.
  21. Yeah I got a short heavy downpour after the first few wet hours and it didn't run off at all so your theory is right. My garden is hardly damp 4" down and still dry at 6". Lol
  22. Moderate rain with some rolling thunder and a few flashes. .5 so far but it has been foggy and soggy so the plants are responding as if it's more. My melon vines have grown almost a foot today!
