  1. Wow, great clouds out there now. Looks like I'm about to get doused. @Juliancolton are you getting it? Radar looks good up your way.
  2. I've got some good thunder going on but just drizzle.
  3. I was out on the tennis court with my daughter a while ago and right around noon the clouds all of a sudden popped and started growing up quickly. At the same time the humidity jumped and the temp did too. It was like a cap had been lifted. Now it's mostly cloudy with dark clouds instead of this mornings puffy ones rather than mostly sunny and the air went stale and got heavy.
  4. Running out my door, jumping off the front step into the snow and it was over my head! I remember freaking out and screaming bloody murder while my dad stood there howling with laughter I want to say January or February 1970 but it could have been 1969, at ~3 years old those memories are kind of fuzzy In the winter of 75/76 on LI we had a couple of nickle and dime events with good dynamics that intrigued me enough to start paying attention and then 77/78 just nailed it with the two storms that both put down over a foot on the south shore.
  5. Sarcasmometer recalibration maybe What I'm getting at is that it hasn't been overly hot during the day compared to previous warm periods, the same way that we've been setting winter records where the days haven't been 'warm' but the nights haven't been as cold. I do understand though that this is what melts ice caps and warms bodies of water and creates the warming environment around them. It feels like cheating though as I want to see the big departures at the high end rather than incremental changes at the low end.
  6. Great writeup OH These high minimums and dewpoints have to stop. Setting high temp records based on minimums is like cheating and feeds the warminista agenda.
  7. Turned into a pretty nice day. Some rain early but mostly sunny and not unbearably hot although the humidity is pretty ugly. It was awfully bright out there, I don't know if it was because it has been so dreary or because it was so hazy
  8. Is Sunday really the only day that might be nice all day for the next week or so? This is getting old... #bringbackthedrought
  9. Weather phenomena doesn't care what the human calendar dates are. First week, last week, blah blah
  10. Wet, steamy, wet, steamy... Are we in S Florida? This weather SUX.
  11. For me that's been the worst part of this whole event. I don't mind a concentrated wet period so much but the random aspect of this has been demoralizing. You can't do anything outside because all of a sudden it gets wet. That rain plume running up the Thruway corridor this morning looks like a real soaker.
  12. Wow you're doing much better than here on this side of the river. It's wet enough though, I don't need the big numbers
  13. Heavy mist coming down in sheets with embedded moderate showers for the last 30 minutes or so here.
  14. Nope. There hasn't really been much (any?) of that here yet this year though. I know it's a different story in your 'hood but we had enough to get us through the dry period without the brownout.
  15. Yeah it was soooo nice out there and the dirt was sooo good. I'll hit a ride up in VT today but I have a feeling that's the last really great one until next weekend at best. Looking like most of us in this discussion are going to see between 2-8" of rain before the week is over. I am wondering how far inland this ends up being a real thing though. Some of what I'm seeing looks like I88 might be the break line between terrible and just a wet(ish) summer week. If that's the case I'm heading NW
  16. Get out there NOW and enjoy the last great evening for a while. I'm going for a ride then firing up the BBQ for some salmon burgers and ribs.
  17. And... Hopefully this is the front coming through soon. I've got heavy rain again.
  18. ~1.4" today and a 24* temp drop from about 1pm. 2.4" since Monday.
  19. 2 hours later and it's still heavy rain, not like earlier but still heavy.
  20. Boom, crackle, BANG, crackle, snap and heavy heavy rain. Not much wind but a great storm otherwise.
