  1. We haven't had anyone posting good LHV minutiae like this in 20 years since Jerry Thaler used to on the old WWBB. Thanks Walt!
  2. Snow is on the ground on Rt 2 heading east out of Albany. Coverage is solid over Petersburg Pass, mostly goes away in Williamstown/ N Adams but picks back up down Rt 8 into Pittsfield. It was nice to drive around as the sun was setting on the pass with it snow covered.
  3. I saw 33 on the dashboard for a minute but a block away it was 31. I'm good with calling today 32* high, it was proper chilly.
  4. More flakes this morning. 11am and the temp is still 29*. Looking forward to the return of spring the next few days.
  5. Anyone else getting flurries? I missed out on them during the day.
  6. Well that was fun. Tornado warning and we headed for the basement. Of course I stood outside and listened for it. I could hear the wind absolutely roaring but there wasn't much wind here which was weird. Then I saw a few minutes later that just north of me in Brewster they got whacked pretty hard. I think our member drvts was right in the line of the rotation but he might be 2 or 3 miles too far west.
  7. Wet spring led to a lot of growth, then when it dried out that growth took off. The leaf carpet in my backyard is definitely thicker than usual.
  8. That's a cool page. Thanks. Too bad there's only one well in my area. Mighty soggy day today. 44* and drizzly, yuck.
  9. Ya couldn't order a nicer day if you tried. I'm good with some awesome storms but then in between it should be like this. Nunathat 23°day stuff
  10. Perfect work on the car in the driveway weather. I'll take a few more months of this please.
  11. I want a mini goat. No more mowing and free fertilizer for the garden.
  12. I honestly don't know what I'd rather have at this point. Emotionally it's going to be snow but then life in America will move indoors and I don't want that, I want to be able to keep.eating outside at restaurants. Maybe the early snow curse is a good thing this year.
  13. It's snowing here from long reach lake effect streamers with this wind. The harder the wind blows the more flakes fly and it's ripping down what's left of the leaves so it's a colorful snowfall. Cool stuff.
  14. Who else is seeing snow? I love when lake effect streamers make it all the way down here.
  15. It melted off here before the temp dropped and then it did a fair job of drying out so I missed the event It was nice and crispy with a really thick frost though. It has been a steady rain since about 10 this morning but only up to .4 so it's been pretty light. Things are finally back to that thoroughly soaked point from last spring but 20cm down the moisture is still pretty low. I'll get a soil moisture reading after it ends tomorrow, I got a new cool electronic tool for the garden that should also work for this purpose if I dig a little hole.
  16. Yeah I think it's best left for slug food at this point. Most of that bed will be turned in next week and left to compost itself other than the carrots which should make it through a freeze. I love when storms end with a really good, big flake, heavy blast and this one isn't going to disappoint.
  17. Got a good moderate to heavy blast moving through right now but the temp is up and the earlier accumulation is melting back pretty quickly. I went outside and made a few snowballs and tossed them at the wilted mess that my garden is. Tomatoes have lots of new flowers, strawberries are still flowering and look pretty happy but parsley and cilantro are laid over, carrot tops are squashed (but ought to come back just fine if the freeze doesn't get 'em and the potatoes don't seem affected at all. Ya gotta toss a few snowballs the first and last snows of each season, it's a rule
  18. It's still snowing but the flakes are small and the visibility is back up to about 1/2 mile, further if looking south than north. Temp seems to have stabilized at 33/34. .5" on grass and elevated surfaces, what had started to accumulate at the edge of the street has already melted back.
  19. Ooh good reminder, gotta turn the water off to the spigot too. My lettuce and tomatoes are probably goners
