~1.5" and warm, muggy and soggy blech... Just need another 10" or so to get to normal for the year but the recent moisture should at least mean that the well is good to go for a while.
Boy it's getting dark out there right now, kinda looks apocalyptic with black sky directly overhead and bright sunshiney goodness just down the hill to my east.
~1.5" yesterday so not bad, plenty of wind but nothing too significant and no damage. The standout was the temps, I ran high 50's all day and popped up to 62 around 6 or 7 last night, it was very tropical feeling when I took the garbage out.
As hard as it has been raining today I'm having a tough time believing all of the local stations. They're all between .22 and .28 and not reporting much for wind. My gutters have been overflowing for hours and water is running down the hill in torrents now.
Eek. Being fully exposed to the ESE and being 400 feet off the general valley floors in the area I worry about lows getting into the NY Bight and sending the winds accelerating up the gradual southern slope below me. Every time we get winds out of that direction it takes out trees, thankfully the leaves are down already. I think I'll fire up the generator this afternoon just to be sure I don't get caught short.
Snow is on the ground on Rt 2 heading east out of Albany. Coverage is solid over Petersburg Pass, mostly goes away in Williamstown/ N Adams but picks back up down Rt 8 into Pittsfield. It was nice to drive around as the sun was setting on the pass with it snow covered.
Well that was fun. Tornado warning and we headed for the basement. Of course I stood outside and listened for it. I could hear the wind absolutely roaring but there wasn't much wind here which was weird. Then I saw a few minutes later that just north of me in Brewster they got whacked pretty hard. I think our member drvts was right in the line of the rotation but he might be 2 or 3 miles too far west.
I honestly don't know what I'd rather have at this point. Emotionally it's going to be snow but then life in America will move indoors and I don't want that, I want to be able to keep.eating outside at restaurants. Maybe the early snow curse is a good thing this year.
