  1. the next day looks even...redder, lol. We will see what happens. Seems like a large change
  2. This is a general question that just popped into my head when looking at my weather channel calendar. The one fact on it for Jan 25th was stating that the global land/ocean surface temp in Jan 2019 tied 2007 for the 3rd warmed (going back to 1880). How many global stations (I'm not sure what they are really called) were there in 1880 compared to now? Was there 1000 stations back then, and 10000 now? Do they try to use the same number? I'm guessing if they are using that stat, they aren't using sat temps? Thanks for the input in advance.
  3. I don't have anomalies, but I have solar panels with a history going back to 2012. 2018 had less sunshine than 2019, but 2012-2016 a decent amount more than the past 2 years. 2017 I had an issue with them, so that data is incomplete.
  4. Very accurate description. I think I get just as excited as my kids for a snow day still.
  5. It is different than rain, which is pretty much 95% of the precip that falls every year. People that like rain are the weird ones!
  6. If the control has any clue, many would be happy. But that is all in fantasy la la land.
  7. Are the GEFS getting upgraded soon as well? I thought I read it, but can't seem to find it now.
  8. State College is getting Light Snow as well as per Met I read elsewhere.
  9. Over the last 120 years, Australia's average rainfall has gone up by 20% according to a chart posted on their government website.
  10. Little over .5". Always nice to wake up to a snowy landscape
  11. This is actually something to track in this garbage winter, even if it is only an inch or so. We all know the period after this is an abomination. I think that has been discussed ad nauseam at this point.
  12. Being inland a bit helped, as that late season surge got me to just 2" below average.
  13. Upper 30s possible in NNJ to maybe 70 in SNJ. Crazy. If it is dry, bring it. Wouldn't mind smoking some ribs and maybe drinking one the summer beers that are in the back of the beer fridge.
  14. Does that come with rain, or is it dry, haven't had time to look
  15. Thank you for that last sentence. I feel like all I hear about 95% of the time is the MJO and forecasters weight that at about the same rate. 95% mjo, 5% everything else.
  16. Interesting, I was born almost exactly 9 months after this storm...hmmmm I think people kind of forget about the 2006 storm is because it melted in like 2 days if I remember correctly. 93-94 is my second fav winter. Wish though I could have enjoyed it more as a 9th grader though. My father was sick from cancer, and passed on March 31, 1994. I remember one storm, it being 17 degrees and it pouring freezing rain. My brother and I were so ticked off. All the ice and snow though lead to near constant snow cover it seemed.
  17. Some years they are 85% right, others not so much like last year. I wouldn't worry too much. It is what it is.
  18. I'm not that far from you, and I got 3.75. I feel like the final snow total map is off slightly in our area.
