Breaking news: We have 95 degrees with an 80 degree dewpoint which feels like 115. This is what happened last spring, but this year we are getting it 2 to 3 weeks earlier. We indeed have a much warmer base state.
-
Update, 100 degrees, 78 dewpoint, feels like 118. This is very hot for early June down here. We topped out at 101 degrees, with 79 dewpoints. That's about a 118 to 120 heat index.
-
That was good. You'd think this was a meteorological AFD for Oklahoma in spring. George BM you need to go to weather school.
-
Just a friendly heads up for the NWS. You guys might want to issue an updated heat product for the EWX region here in TX. It's 97/79. It feels like 116 degrees. I know. I am out spreading mulch in this. Yeah, I need my head examined lol. Edit: It fell to 94. Now it feels like a cool 112. Gonnabe a hot day just the same. Soon as I cool off, gotta go right back out and spread more mulch. I am so tired of mom's rose bush flowerbeds. Damn thorns got me so many times.

Buda, Texas at 9pm local time, 88 degrees, with a suffocating 80 degree dewpoint. Feels like 102. Spent an hour pulling weeds and super tough grass runners that had to be tackled one by one, dozens of them, in the midst of a choking cloud of gnats and whining mosquitoes. It's fun down here. You guys should try this. It's relaxing and soothing. We had some enjoyable 115 real feel weather earlier. It was even nicer in the direct sun. We are getting off to a really good running start this summer! Oh wait! It's only late May. Summer starts JUNE 21. My bad.

Look out Washington Metro Region. Storms incoming!
-
It is quite hot here. Today we hit 99. Dews were as high as 79. At times, heat indices were up in the low 110s. This is kind of early for this kind of heat/ humidity.
-
It will definitely be better than this past ratter of a winter.
-
Yeah. I know the feeling. Lol
-
It will get better. Next winter will be very good snow wise in the SNE/ NE.

Just got weather readings for 14 cities across the nation. There are 60s dewpoints even at Jay Peak. This is a HOT spring. Guess what summer will bring. Unprecedented heat, Unprecedented dewpoints. I expect 87 degree dews in Buda in July and August with 139 degree real feel, and I will be out in it 11 hours a day, seven days a week. This is not going to be like the days in 2011 with my dad in Charles Town when all I did for years was hide out in a chilly casino reading blogging pdfs for sixteen hours straight. Times have DRASTICALLY changed, ever since I moved to Texas. It has been a pleasure knowing y'all. Really has. It is certain I will die from a stroke and/or heart attack in 139 degree heat indices this summer. It is a certainty, a 97 percent probability.

The Pac drives the bus right over the Sierra, dumping massive amounts of snow there. If I had the wealth, I would move to Palisades Tahoe, kick back and enjoy the deep snows year after year after year.
-
Why don't you take a little road trip to Texas! We got your death ray summer. It's 90 right now! You could help me clear brush!
-
I am so ready for sunny 63 degrees 33 dewpoints and a nice 23 mph northerly wind component. I am already so sick of summer. And I want shade, cool sweet shade! And a billion huge coca cola slurpees! We have already had a couple days with 79 degree dewpoints.
-
I envy you guys. All that fresh heavy rain, and you already have ~20 inches plus on the year already.
-
A thunderstorm with 4 inch hail, tornadoes and 80 mph gusts is bearing down on Buda TX. It has 75 dbz reflectivity. Just wanted to say, It has been really nice knowing you all.
-
Nice storm, George BM! You are definitely NO wannabe!
-
I can't believe this. I just missed a 10 inch blizzard at Mammoth! Completely missed out, totally clueless.
-
Dale City Va hit 84 today low was 62. Those temps, are Buda's averages for this time of year.

I have had a massive change of heart about severe weather. MASSIVE. I am going to pray against major hurricanes hitting the GoMex coast and the East Coast. I hope they move fast and do minimal damage, or little to no damage at all, and that G-d is present in these weather events and that he ends up having incredible mercy on persons in the storms or on persons trying to get away from the storms. I am hoping that La Nina will not Nina correctly, we don't have hardly any hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin, and this upcoming winter will be much more like a Nino Winter, with happy outcomes across the country, especially in the Mid Atlantic, as elated snow weenies fly all over filled with joy, as HECS after snow laden HECS covers DC with deep snows in 2024-2025.

This is a very serious situation indeed. I am rewriting this story because I have had a massive change of heart. A Cat 5 storm formed and moved toward Florida, dominating news stories for days before the storm ever struck the Sunshine State. Swells ahead of the storm prompted many adventurous surfers to defy warnings and enjoy the waves. Fortunately no one was hurt or killed. Hurricane Debi finally made her move on Florida. The A1A became a massive parking lot, as millions of people frantically tried to move upstate all at once! Every mode of transport became beset by innocent people trying to evac. As the storm lumbered slowly northwestward, the cirrus gave way to heavier lower clouds, clouds that grew alarmingly black, then rainfall developed that soon intensified into torrential rains that were being driven by winds that rapidly strengthened to banshee, utterly insane gusts. The storm continued intensifying right into landfall. Meteorologists marveled at how Debi kept right on intensifying even through eyewall replacement cycles. Wild gusts wrecked a lot of structures but many people did manage to evac. Things got so backed up on the interstates that many terrified people were running, walking, desperate to get as far north as possible, scenes somewhat reminiscent of people trying to escape from Saigon on April 29, 1975. And top-tier chasers like Josh Morgerman and Reed Timmer and many others, were getting the storm coverage of their lives! These are professionals who stayed safe throughout the event. They helped many people escape from the storm surges and admittedly insane wind gusts. They saved countless lives. The airports were a total nightmare. Thousands of desperate, scared to death people were trying to get a flight anywhere away from Miami! People were even storming the airline counters, even storming their way onto planes! A few planes somehow managed to take off in the wild hellish maelstrom, got blown about, end over end, people inside getting all blended up as the incredible hypercanic winds tossed big 787's around like so much chaff on the summer threshing floors. Local police were overwhelmed, it was just total bedlam, pandemonium. As a terrifying unprecedented hurricane with monster 230 mph winds, gusts to 270, unbelievable 30 to 38 foot storm surges and tsunami like waves on top of the surge, moved into South Florida causing severe damage leaving the entire region uninhabitable for weeks. This was a very damaging storm but it sped up as it moved into Florida. That probably helped many people to survive the storm. There was overwhelming evidence that God had a lot of mercy on the people of Florida. Many people that were fleeing the storm managed to find buildings to huddle in as the storm's worst quickly swept past. Floridians did all they could to help but the storm made this extremely difficult. Debi's surge and the battering waves on top of the surge were challenging to say the least. But the hurricane sped up as it moved into Florida, it got swept up into a front to the north. There were many miraculous stories about survival in the storm, many heroes who risked all, including their lives, to save strangers. Hurricane Debi continued thru Florida then got swept into a frontal system, it got rapidly degraded. It brought gusty winds and very heavy rainfall into Georgia and the Carolinas then much of Virginia, some places in the Mid Atlantic picked up 15 inches of rain from Debi's remnants then she moved out to sea thank goodness. There was a massive outpouring of support into Florida from all over the US and from all over the world. Florida made an incredibly rapid recovery from Debi's effects thanks to work crews arriving from all over. Supplies were also transported into the sunshine state, incredible amounts of water, food, rebuilding materials. Florida experienced an incredibly miraculous rebuilding, a redevelopment never before seen in the state. Tourism was completely restored in record time. The coastal areas were built up to absolutely unprecedented levels. Immense seawalls were built. Many seaside cities decided to raise up their lands like Galveston did in 1900. Plans were put in place for a gigantic Thames Barrier like protection system, and construction began immediately. ------------------------------------------ I have a copy of the original story, but about a week after I wrote up that version I was overtaken by a major change of heart. This is going to be a La Nina autumn. SSTs are elevated. But I am hoping and praying that the US Coasts will somehow luck out this tropical season and only get a few tropical storms with modest rains, gusty winds 25 to 45 mph and no tornadoes.
-
Be very very careful what you wish for. This tropical season may go full-on George BM. But hopefully not.

The surface ocean temperatures are high. This is a developing La Nina. La Nina is highly conducive to severe hurricane development in the Atlantic. This would be an excellent time to move from anywhere along the east coast and gulf coast. This hurricane season will be utterly unprecedented. We're going to see some horrifying hurricanes. I am so happy I live 350 miles inland. I do not have to worry. I am all cozy and safe from bad hurricanes, and it is too dry here anyway. Everyone needs to move far inland. The sea surface temps will stay elevated, and they will get much hotter with time. Storms will be unprecedented, not just hurricanes.
