In all honesty hardypalmguy isn’t wrong to post these, Labor Day and early September in general in the last decade has been prone to very hot spells.
Heat when the kids head back to school and in early September has always been a thing, Just like a stretch of 80's in October. A period of 70's near Turkey day. The good news Sun is tempered quite a bit already versus June and July. Now if the angle of the sun begins to increase after Labor day that's a concern.

this heat is amazing. loving it.
Yup. Bought some ice cold Hamms beer from the land of sky blue waters to drink and put on my fore head while sitting outside a bit later. My idea of how to shed a few pounds. Love it.

Usually I'm not big on the long range thoughts as much during the summer, mostly cause I'm out actually enjoying things. However...
I did want to mention that it is likely that this active seasonable/trough/NW flow type pattern will stay locked in around the Midwest/Great Lakes for the next week or so. This is partially the product of a generally -NAO/+PNA regime in place on the larger scale.
Looks like the next push of hotter temps/higher humidity will be centered around the Aug 19-24th period or so, as the -NAO relaxes and the PNA flips fairly negative.
Local schools go back 8/22, and the wife returns to the classroom so this makes sense.

Not really. The couple of days in late June it was thick enough for me to smell on the ground here it smelled like burnt plastic, not like a campfire at all.
Yeah, we didn't get that flavor.

i like it better when I can smell the smoke. Makes me feel like I'm camping on those early mornings when you can still smell the night befores campfire.

Really didn't have grilling time while dodging tornadoes on the menu today.

Only 1.44" over the past few weeks out here. Still got some pretty deep soil moisture deficits
I think the difference is the areas that took 3-5" over the 4th of July weekend. We were in that zone.

Shame about the miss south stank, upcoming looks hot just south
looking forward to more 80 degree days with partly cloudy skies. I'm all for being inside the "ring" if it's sunshine and 90 with nightly MCS. This thing sounds like incessant clouds and 88 with 75 dews and storms. I'll pass on that. I'll take the south miss.

I love that smell.

Ready 2b miss south stanked. Not even any heat. Oh look, a drought with 2 sprinkles and temps in the 70s. Michigan might as well be the new coastal Namibia. This summer is going down in history as the most boring ever. There’s just no way it can get any more boring.
you did get smoke.
