  1. Jebman - Not sure of the weather yesterday in Austin, but am visiting Dallas. Torrential rains for about 12 hours yesterday. Love Field in dallas reported 4.22 inches of rain. Radar estimates show that was pretty common across the City.
  2. Here is an article from the Baltimore Sun on how long to replace the bridge: Two to 10+ years. https://www.baltimoresun.com/2024/03/27/how-long-to-rebuild-key-bridge/?lctg=5542341FC47274152512454414&utm_email=5542341FC47274152512454414&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=https%3a%2f%2fwww.baltimoresun.com%2f2024%2f03%2f27%2fhow-long-to-rebuild-key-bridge%2f&utm_campaign=Breaking-News-Alerts&utm_content=alert
  3. Have read time estimates of anything from a year (I do not believe) to at least four. It takes so long for anything to be built these days that to me the 4 years sound more believable. I wonder if they will have to do any enviroment studies and even enviroment lawsuits which slow down everything even more. Look how long it takes to build pipe lines or the Purple Line.
  4. Was at Fort McHenry for the first time yesterday. Wife wanted to see the cherry blossoms. (We moved to Lutherville from Tysons/Vienna three years ago). As we walked around, my wife asked what bridge was in the distance. I said the Key Bridge. We used to go on it to go to NJ when the old Harbor Tunnel (I-895) was backed -up like on Thanksgiving ( before the I-95 tunnel opened) but its been years since we were on it. I thought it was an Onion headline when I first saw the headline. The collapsing video is unbelievaable.
  5. Same thing and heavy rain for a brief time in Lutherville-Timonium.
  6. As I walked around my neighborhood earlier today, I was shocked to see that some of the north facing roofs still had snow on them.
  7. Interesting. I belong to Woodholme and find it very hilly whereas when I golfed at Suburban I have thought of it as flat.
  8. My daughter-in-law is from the Upper Lower Peninsula, about 10 minutes from the Mackinac bridge. Tourists in the summer for lakes, boating, etc. Pretty dead in the winter but we did once have lake effect snows in early January from the airport to our hotel. Over the holidays this year, , my son said all the snow melted but now, they are snow covered and zero at night.
  9. Good light show and thunder in Lutherville. Heavy rain earlier around 8:PM but not now.
  10. Reminds me of Salt Lake City where I went to grad school in the mid-70s and thought I would never see again. We would ski at Alta or Snowbird with blue skies and temps in the 40s. As you came down the mt, you would see the city as an ugly blob with temps in the 20s. The temp inversion would have trapped all the smoke and other pollutants from the Kennecott smelters in the valley.
  11. Sounds about right. Played 18 holes at a club in Pikesville and I was pretty soaked by the end of the round. Very few golfers left on the course when I left.
  12. Definite mulch topper in Lutherville.
  13. First frost in Lutherville and first golfing frost delay of the season.
  14. In Lutherville- Timonium , we got our power back around 10:30 AM but I understand GreenSpring Station with the three Hopkins bldgs) which is right next to us still had no power early afternoon. Not soon enough to save a lot of the refrig and freezer stuff.
  15. Surprising. I would have guessed even more as I was eating on the deck at Woodholme and the torrential rains seem to continue for a long-time, stopped and then resumed about 30 minutes later.
  16. First snow since we moved "north" in March from Wolf Trap to Lutherville-Timonium. And south does better!
  17. The Wash Post Capital Weather Gang has a "Gift Article" of their interview with Louis Uccellini as he is about to retire (as of Jan 1). It ends with his DCA snowfall prediction.
  18. Was one of these houses in the 7500 block of Salem? Curious because my wife saw on FB that the house of somebody she knows in Falls Church was hit by a falling tree. *********************************** I think I’ve seen enough to say that this was the biggest storm to hit my immediate neighborhood in decades (better than the derecho). Two houses with direct hits, one down the street from me and one a block over. Branches down and leaf parts sticking to everything. I bet we went 70+. 19. Just came in from a walk with my grand daughter. In parts of our neighborhood, could definitely hear the cicada hum. Also our driveway by the garage door looked like a cicada army died trying to invade our garage
  20. This is from Lutherville-Timonium, not Wolftrap.
  21. From the north, in a walk with my grandkids around our new community we checked trees and saw about five shells. However, later when my grandson went exploring he found one tree with many.
  22. For a few more weeks 38.935080 -77.260750 and since earlier this month 39.425030 -76.664360
