  1. I read someplace that the more exotic a bird you sacrifice the more rainfall you’ll get.
  2. https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/what-do-about-foxes#:~:text=It's normal for foxes to,be looking for a meal.
  3. Right you are, in recent times its more than 2017, 2012, 2011. Look at some of those burn seasons in the past... https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/42438.html

  5. .55” total last night, that’s the most rain I’ve had in an event since 6/9 when I picked up 1.24”. So this goes down as the driest summer since I moved in here in 2005.
  6. I read on their Facebook page that even the Thruway Authority deployed one of their bulldozers to help build the fire line. I’m assuming that the rains last night were a huge help.
  7. There aren’t many good sources but look at the DEC on Twitter. Also the Ulster County Fire page on Facebook, JC shared that the other day. The Times Herald Record ran a story today. It looks like that got good rains up there this evening. https://www.recordonline.com/story/news/local/2022/08/30/fire-minnewaska-state-park-closed-ulster-labor-day/65463390007/
  8. Current temp 91/DP 76/RH 62%
  9. 2022: 4.79 now. If I get exactly an inch of rain tonight I'll tie my driest met summer...cue@BxEnginecomplaining that I couldn't find another hundredth at some point over the summer...
  10. A further ‘not good’ with the winds forecasted to increase this afternoon.
  11. The euro really brings the rains next week but its an op run for next week, we've seen this before. That said, lets obviously hope that the idea gains traction this week. The GFS also had rain but not nearly as much.
  12. I'm about two miles south of that 2.9 at KMGJ, it looks a tad high, only 2.09" here over the past 60 days.
  13. A large brush fire now in Sparrowbush off NYS 42
  14. Heads up there’s a fire in Wurtsboro too. County route 56 is closed and the public is advised to avoid that area. This fire is active today too.
  15. I believe there is a separate fire in Wurtsboro too
  16. A major brush fire started yesterday and is on going today up near Sams Point.
  17. It’s really crazy/scary how dry everything is.
  18. What some may find interesting about this photo is you can see the tree that fell on the other bank a few years ago. You can also see where that tree slowed the river down enough to drop silt and form a little island behind it (the river flows left to right in this photo). It was a full tree when it fell and now that most of the branches have fallen off it’ll be interesting to see if that silt island gets washed away over time.
  19. I hope this early start to dead leaf season thanks to the drought brings you much joy.
