  1. Winter coat? Are you a coat salesperson or a gloves salesperson? Which is it?
  2. True as well as precip and precip rates. My experience along the river is that peak is always a bit later because in my theory the Hudson is large enough to keep temps a couple of degrees warmer and not just right along the immediate banks.
  3. I always considered that to be influence from he Hudson River, it always seems to be later the closer you get to the river. Am I correct? Probably not, as is tradition, but I've been running with that for years so I ain't stopping now.
  4. Still some beautiful sights out there though
  5. Yep, crushed this week with at least 90% of the leaves in my yard down now.
  6. As demonstrated above in this thread.
  7. Here's one of the commercials, there were a number of them.
  8. Took this on Monday at the top of Crawford Notch, what you can't see is the clouds racing in and the wind was whipping which it often is at this location. It reminded me of the Molson beer commercials of the late 1980s that showed late fall shots as they talked about how "in Canada the wind blows a little wilder, the air is a little colder, winter comes a little wilder" if anyone recalls those. I'm not ready for winter just yet but this image definitely got my mind started.
  9. I’ve felt this more than once in the bathroom but it had nothing to do with an earthquake
  10. My yard yesterday morning. Made it below freezing for the first time this season, 30 for the low.
  11. A friend of mine lives near Mount Snow, his wife still works there, and when we saw him Labor Day weekend for the Brewfest there he said the same thing. It’s killing the market for locals looking for a place to live.
  12. I've seen them be closer but I haven't really started looking at them again until recently. These maps will definitely be on my radar again...
  13. on RadarScope I checked the accumulated rainfall IMBY with the KDIX, KOKX, KENX and KBGM and none were even close to the 1.15" I recorded. As has been stated many time before, those radar accumulation maps are less than accurate for many, if not all, locations.
  14. Old septic systems are notorious for causing random dry spots during dry spells but that causes it to go dormant, not dead.
  15. Forecast low is 35 here, sitting at 36 already.
  16. Agreed, I’m seeing some colors on trees I haven’t seen for years.
  17. I know there were trees that dropped their leaves early from the drought but the ones that kept their leaves are looking pretty good this year in these parts.
