  1. Thanks. The photo is deceiving a bit as I’m standing uphill, the tree is at least 8’ tall now.
  2. I'll grab a photo when I get home. Mine came in a cardboard box that FedEx delivered. The stems on the top of the tree were bent a bit to get it into the box so I was concerned last year when I planted it but over time those stems straightened out last season. Actually there is some bending of the new stems this year due to the growth and some of the recent downpours but I can see them getting more straight again already.
  3. I have a white birch that's about 10 years old and for several years the leaves would turn yellow by late June and they would drop in August. After trying various things over the years thinking it was something on the leaves this season after taking a closer look at the soil I figured out it appears to have been an iron deficiency. The tree has responded very well to iron treatments and with that has come some decent growth. Then last week I had a birch bending downpour, the top third of the tree was leaning pretty good. I tied it up to straighten it as much as I could for a few days, with success. Then had another downpour Saturday and the top quarter of the tree is leaning the other way, LOL.
  4. I bought a 6-7' Autumn Blaze Red Maple from them last May, Dendrite, you may have actually mentioned this site to me here. Anyway, I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. The tree I got was nice and full. I got solid new growth on it last season and its nice and full this year.
  5. Yesterday’s total was 1.04”, the Davis was clogged so my reading comes from the Stratus. That said, the storm that just blew through here was way heavier than anything I say yesterday. Small branch’s and twigs all over the yard, eggplant, peppers, and zuc took a beating, the bride ain’t happy. .54” which fell in 10-15 minutes, the birch is now leaning the other way, I can’t win.
  6. You must be chuckling a bit to yourself with the way folks are getting "crushed" today...how quickly did you get to the 3.53" again?
  7. To be fair, that intersection has had flash flooding issues for decades, no disrespect to the deluge today though. I remember in the great '93--'94 winter that intersection flooded during the storm around 1/17 when it dumped snow in the morning, 6-8" as I recall, before a warm front blasted through changing it to rain. That evening the arctic front came through causing not only a change back to snow but a flash freeze that left roads more or less undriveable for a good week. Anyway, when it changed to rain that intersection was under water, not as bad as today but bad enough.
  8. From the Orange and Rockland County Fire page
  9. Just saw a photo of the exit ramp from 84 to 9W in Newburgh, cars underwater, not good.
  10. Get tracks like that in 6 months and have @wdrag starting new threat threads every few days...oh how we pray
  11. It was NW and W of me, I only picked up .10 yesterday.
  12. A real Birch Bender here yesterday, that’s the leader still flopping to the left. The branch that looks like the leader was also flopping over to the left this morning so it’s starting to straighten out again.
  13. My oldest son works downtown, before COVID-19 hit he would spend close to two hours each way taking the train out of Campbell Hall and then the Path from Hoboken. Even with the coin he makes that commute everyday is not for me. That said, he's been working from a private beach house in SC since the end of March and who knows what the future is as far as remote working for those who can.
  14. Just saw a social media pic of close to golf ball sized hail out near Port Jervis.
  15. I have the Black and Decker 40v weed whacker, blower and 12” chainsaw, love them, so easy to use and maintain. The blower is ok, good for the grass clippings after mowing and leaves on the walk but you’re not going to get far with heavy leaves in the yard come fall but that’s ok, I have another blower for that when needed.
