  1. So what does that run? Maybe a third of your Christmas lights? Asking for @BxEngine
  2. The Wallkill is definitely up, hard to tell in this photo of the boat launch here in Thomas Bull but there’s 10 or so steps under water here so the river is up several feet. Cousin Eddie (my eldest) assessing the large ash branch down across the driveway, one of two that fell. After seeing how close this was to the power lines I feel even more fortunate this morning. That said, dead ash limbs and trees falling across the region will be a problem for years to come...
  3. I too feel very lucky having power this morning and only small branches down. I’m somewhat protected from a south wind by the little ridge that NYS 416 and the golf course are on but I heard the roaring wind all night long. I know I’ve said it before but after the 5/15/18 severe storm I’ve developed a great disdain for high winds. Merry Christmas!!
  4. Agreed, you can see it on RadarScope that the one radar, KDOX, is funky down there making it look much worse.
  5. I still can’t believe that I have a solid 5” snowpack with 100% coverage and it’ll be gone within 24 hours!
  6. I’m twice as dumb on here as I am in real life but the inversion should keep the worst of the wind from reaching the surface. Correct @forkyfork?
  7. I think you need a few more question marks!!!!!
  8. Down to 6” at the stake this morning, 100% snow coverage, perfect for Christmas....
  9. I thought of you this morning, as disturbing as that sounds, it’s time to give this classic another read: http://web.archive.org/web/20010223220801/www.nationallampoon.com/flashbacks/xmas59/xmas59.html
  10. Yep, probably still listening to FM too. Take your music app of choice but for me I’ve discovered a number of talented groups with very good lyric writing by simply letting Spotify do its thing. Some of these groups might have had some limited air play on Sirius but not in FM, not around here anyway. The talent is out there, no question.
  11. Some improvement on the 12z with temps crashing Christmas morning. The snow depth map is totally for shits and giggles,
  12. My comment yesterday in the main thread still stands... breakout the Christmas shorts... #2020
  13. I’m guessing his low involves too much alcohol and poor judgement.
  14. Um Euro has 57 here Christmas morning...prefer I say the Christmas morning shorts?
  15. -3 here currently in Campbell Hall, well below the forecasted low thanks to the snowpack.
  16. Yeah, that was one ugly run, lots of wind too...
  17. I was surprised up here yesterday when my 11" snowfall had a core of 1.53", there was 1.35" in the Stratus melted down.
  18. Wing plows are fairy common, although not so much in cities. Wing plows are used throughout the storm and you are correct once the snow stops crews will then use the wing plow to push the snow further back off the shoulders. Once the banks get high enough many crews have a wing plow on road graders and those will both cut the banks down and/or push them further back. Here's an example, yes its from Sweden, but it happens throughout the US in snow country as well:
  19. My old fat ass feels pretty good this evening especially after reading the posts in here...so I’ve got that going for me...which is nice.
  20. Well that didn’t go as expected...1.35” melted down giving me around a 8:1 ratio. I know I had crappy flakes, some resembling tiny styrofoam balls, but I wasn’t expecting a ratio that low. I know I dumped it after Monday’s event. I’m melting down a core sample off one of my snow boards now to see what I get there. Anyone else calculating ratios?
