  1. Even as the NWS issues WSWarnings, the current NAM run still says "meh"
  2. Euro and GFS both have big hits for NE Colorado, yet the NAM says "what storm?"
  3. Bring it on. I've only got an inch or two left in high sun areas from the Dec 28 storm. And I kind of like having extended snow coverage.
  4. Some wicked fog on the Palmer Divide this morning. Visibility like 200-300 feet, at least from my back deck.
  5. For as much as Wednesday's system ended up booming, tonight's system looks to be a huge bust
  6. My back yard just got lumped into the winter storm watch. Yet for only 2-5" which seems odd. That's hardly winter storm criteria.
  7. I was out of town for the storm, but I think I got a foot
  8. My back yard got to -15 last winter and projected temps seem to be in that same range for lows, just for an extra 12-18 hours.
  9. I love a good storm as much as anyone, but this one has me on edge because I am visiting family in State College PA late next week and fly out of Baltimore for a Florida vacation on the 23rd.
  10. Fantasy land models showing some dangerously brutal cold around Christmas. I sure hope that's overdone.
  11. Got a hair over 2" Nickel and diming my way into winter
  12. Five different measurable snowfall events already, but yet only totaling 4.2"
  13. Ended up with about 3", right in the middle of the original 2-4" forecast, and despite NWS upping my area to 4-6" yesterday morning (which always is an omen for a bust)
  14. Storm performing well in the foothills but looks to be a bust for most of the Palmer Divide
  15. GFS has really backed off on any chance of snow for the eastern half of Colorado this week
  16. Most of today's snow stayed a stone's throw to my west, but still picked up 0.05" liquid in snow form.
  17. The debate about where not to build is a different one than how to most efficiently do a widespread mass cleanup of debris.
  18. Easier to clean up crap that's in one place than scouring the island for it. Do you want to clean up a pile of leaves that's in one pile, or rake the yard first? When you have hundreds of houses that are no longer fit for habitation (and thousands of people all wanting their houses rebuilt), that time, money and effort adds up when you have to rake the leaves first.
  19. Sure, you can't do much to prevent flooding. But everything is still in tact for personal property salvage and eventual demolition. But for the areas that didn't get storm surge, it will save hundreds of $millions
  20. The biggest takeaway is that modern building codes work.
  21. That wouldn't surprise me. So much stock is put in these models so far in advance and people get the "it won't hit here" mentality.
  22. That site shows DAB as being closed for a week, too. I wonder if that's just some default end date they put when the airport hasn't yet announced when it's reopening.
