Hopefully we get another period in Feb otherwise it's a 01-02, 11-12 style winter with a 7-10 day stretch in Jan and then torch rest of way

Along with the great January forecasts-remember the big pattern change around xmas was going to lead into a great January? 1st half was a torch followed by a week of mostly dry and cold and then back to a less intense torch the last week. YAWN.

Most ratters have that-a cold period of 7-10 days in January....and that's it.

No chance. Way too dry here and there's a dry push later today from the north

This winter appears likely to have 2 short periods of cold/snow in an otherwise sea of tremendous warmth...

Maybe we could get a warm March for a change....winter's mostly done by then anyway at least as far as accum snows

That's rare anyway-last time we had a few weeks of a great pattern was Feb '21

Even the January pattern turned out to be only 7 days-originally looked like a couple to 3 weeks.

5 inches here YTD seems like an ice age compared to last year

Storm has endeded temps down to 27 after briefly touching 32....snow caked with ice now

MJO plots are notoriously fickle so who knows....

then it's a 10 day winter like some famous ratters 01-02, 11-12, 19-20

Phases 4-5-6 have been favored last few winters due to warm SST's in that area. Phase 8 has been almost non exisitent
