It was a Flop... February 2024 Disco. Thread

rain and dews near 40-that will be wiped out by sunset tomorrow-just piles left... -
Cold/dry, warm up rain, then back to cold/dry
-
Jan 04 was an ice box.
-
dying industry with the average age of the listener increasing every year....ratings way down from their peak in the 1990's....so many other ways to get news/weather now...so the talent level tends to diminish as they cannot pay the bigger figures anymore-same goes for local TV newscasts
-
wasn't trying to do that...simply stating that below normal in mid-late March won't cut it for snow/cold like it would Dec-Feb...
-
who said anything about epic cold...my point is when you go back and look at our big March snow storms they are usually preceded by an arctic outbreak.
-
By then averages are 50-55 so you'd need some decent cold to get anything-and there's zero cold anywhere so good luck with that...
-
Yes I have noticed a few more birds here of late. The end is coming and probably quickly.
-
Agreed-but a bad Pac has done us in for 3 yrs for the most part. Hoping for better results next year but thinking we might be in a bad stretch for the PAC(ie lots of MJO 4-5-6)
-
Until we see wholesale Pac improvements it's going to be rough sledding. Same goes for next winter....
-
In reality we'd probably get a cooldown but with average temps 50-55 by then and zero arctic air available it would just be stormy/wet best case....could always be a one off event but with such a mild background state nationwide (Think 01-02 or 11-12) nothing would be where the betting money should go....
-
1998 ruined NYC's snowfall futility record-they had .5 of an inch and then got he 5 inch slop fest on 3/22. Was in the 80's for a few day very late March.
-
Not much cold air around (snow/ice cover lacking nationwide) and by mid march normals are in the 50's...
-
every one in awhile it works- 09-10 and 17-18 but you're right it's hyped like hell then the cold goes to the other side of the globe....
-
We are lucky-given that we've had about 2-3 weeks of actual winter 15 inches of snow is a miracle...other dogs like 01-02 or 11-12, 19-20 had low single digit totals
-
At least the 2 inch rainstorms with temps in the 50's have stopped...it's one thing to be warm and sunny and 50 and one thing to have it all washed away. Hopefully the mountains can get something like they did in mid March last year-those were the best conditions of the season.

He sells dreams to weenies who hang on to the bitter end....I had read here earlier that most of the commercial clients bailed since his forecasts were too cold. -

He has looked beyond foolish this year. His best days are clearly behind him. -

You would need a superstorm 1993 type deal to get cold air that far south in March... -
White rain city at best like last March-there is no cold air and you need arctic cold in March
-
That's about it if that happens...however the cold will come 4/1 lol
-
No cold air-where's the high pressure? Way too far NW

Probably not a concern this year.... -

JB is not really relevant anymore-his last few winter forecasts have been so bad it's almost laughable...he will miss the NE on temps by 5-6 degrees easily. -

It's too early-the old system of the 1st week of April was better. Of course every year we hear about getting rid of it but nothing ever changes due to issues with both ways (DST-dark Dec/Jan mornings, EST, darker summer evenings)
