  1. The same thing applies here. Once you get 10-15 miles inland from the lake the influence isn't that great. The predominant wind is w/sw. And lake erie is much warmer than ontario due to how shallow it is. It helps keep us warmer for longer in the fall and colder for longer in the spring.
  2. We dont get a frost in Hamburg until Late October. Lake Erie is pretty warm most of fall.
  3. Heart lake in the Dacks is already at 40% foliage. About 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I'll be there next weekend, should be close to peak.
  4. Anyone see the hurricane in the Mediterranean sea? So cool. I wonder if you could get a little tropical storm on Superior? https://greece.greekreporter.com/2020/09/16/storm-ianos-will-bring-severe-weather-to-greece-through-the-weekend/
  5. Sep Temps Buf- (+2.2) Roc- (-0.4) Watertown- (-0.8) Aug Temps Buf- (+2.2) Roc- (+1.4) Watertown- (+1.5) July Temps Buf- (+6.5) Roc- (+4.8) Watertown- (+5.8) June Temps Buf- (+0.8) Roc- (+1.7) Watertown- (+2.1)
  6. Looks like some pretty warm air across the central USA next week.
  7. Impossible to predict. There is very little coorelation besides strong Ninos giving us warmer and less snowy winters. I'd say Ninas are slightly favored to Ninos. In this forum we want cold air to awaken the lakes. If we get it, we have snowier winters, if we don't we have less snowy winters.
  8. 4th hurricane to make landfall in US? Not counting Bermuda getting hit this morning.
  9. Sally is rapidly strengthening. Might be a major at landfall at this rate. Anyone notice the sky today? The dust from the wildfires has made its way over to our area. I wonder if this causes a quick transition to cooler temps as the suns energy is basically blocked across the entire northern states?
  10. Lake Erie is pretty shallow, so we usually cheer for warm temps right until lake effect season starts in mid/late November as even 1/2 weeks of below weather between now and then will lead the lake to cool to normal. Lake Ontario doesn't have to worry about freezing up as its too deep.
  11. If you're getting frost advs already, I'm thinking first freeze this weekend or next. 2 pretty potent cool shots.
  12. Lake is right around the highest it's ever been for this time of year. 74 degrees.
  13. Next Friday/Saturday look pretty cold. Lows around 40?
  14. Figured we would get a new thread for fall. Looks chilly next weekend. Hopefully this isn't the pattern that locks in for Sep/Oct/Nov and we go back to warm for Dec-Feb.
  15. Yeah it is weird. Especially coastal areas. I saw some pics out of lake placid and they are at around 20% changed so far.
  16. We really don't want the cold too soon. Like I said I hope it holds off until mid/late November.
  17. I actually plan on seeing flakes on the high peaks. If this happens we will definitely be seeing snow and likely some accumulation above 4k feet.
  18. The Adirondack Leaf change is a week ahead of last year based on the reports up there. I'll be up there Sep 24-29th for my buddies bachelor party. Really excited as they should be near full peak by then. We rescheduled the Dix range (5 peaks) for that weekend, doing an overnight backpacking hike.
  19. Well I just bought a new snowblower so I'm taking bets on a bad winter.
