Poster from Ohio has 17" and they lost power this morning. They're staying in a hotel due to the weight of the snow causing them to lose power. Lake effect is wetter than synoptic in early season events. It's not always high QPF until Jan/Feb.

Did you see that lake snow event on the GFS? Would be 3-4' for Buffalo. It's been far too long since a good LES band. I think last year we had 1 good event? At 2" on the day here on the dot.

That band near Cleveland has been strong all day. Totals of a foot as of noon. They may approach 2 feet.

411 hospitalizations in Erie county now. We're almost double the last waves hospitalizations. Any website to see if this is putting strain on hospital systems yet? Flu season is in full swing as well.

Yeah, I'm not sure I agree with them. I think at end of month we are around average temps.

The winds in the high peaks are insane. Also found this researching high winds up there. As temperatures dropped across the Northeast from the blast of a polar vortex, the wind chill at Whiteface, near Lake Placid, made it feel like a body- and mind-numbing minus 114 degrees late Saturday and into Sunday. Central Park could only muster a minus 1 degree. Can you imagine hiking up there that day??
