A windows open warning has been issued by LWX for the entire region from 10am-6pm for the next 4 days.

Outstanding weather, I love March in this region. Today was absolutely perfect for running. Warm enough you can run in a t shirt but not hot enough to really sweat.

March sun angle vs. northwesterly flow and it's not even a fair fight. Beautiful out again.

Super interesting. I'm very ignorant on this stuff. So the ones that come out every 17 years are for some reason larger than the ones we see every year?

Well the "people's republic of Takoma Park" considers it a crime against humanity to cut a tree down so we've got like an entire forest here.

So what's the deal with the ones I hear every summer? Are those just part of some season ones that aren't on a 17 year cycle?

The cicadas are noisy as hell every year in my neighborhood it seems. It's like there's always a dull roar in summer evenings.

Man, that sounds fun as hell. I'm not sure my kids (2 and 4) will like it much.

But will Loudon be on a two hour delay to clear the Cicadas?

So what's the deal with this? I have never experienced one of these. Are there going to be swarms of these things everywhere? Is my dog going to be jumping up and eating them out of mid air? Am I going to need to use my windshield wipers while driving? Will I need a tennis racket to get to my car lol?

And between you and me (close in DC burbs) it's a huge gradient. I probably have about 6 inches on the season.

Can't wait for all this slop to melt off so we can enjoy some proper DC early spring weather this week.

Ice is accreting nicely on trees today but not at all on other surfaces which is nice. It's not slippery at all for walking around.

Well that was fun, seems to have ended mostly and I imagine if it picks back up again it'll be a mix or rain. Best events of the year were the snow shower the morning after the sleet storm and this 90 minute storm. Back to tracking spring.

Getting nice big flakes now and accumulating nicely everywhere. Roads caved.

Of course all those POS failure events I wasted hours on sucked, and the one event I don’t track is the best of the season.

Nobody should ever wonder about why it doesn’t snow in dc anymore. Plain and simple it’s not cold enough. That’s such a pathetic seasonal low.

Yeah I don't see how that one can work for us with the stale cold air and southerly/southwest winds at 850 and the surface and a high off the coast hahaha. Maybe the Euro will throw us a bone for Friday. -
3 days of 50s next week before our next fake storm. I'm ready for it.
