  1. Hard to measure but I’ll call it 1/8 of an inch I think.
  2. Getting some solid accretion on branches now.
  3. Temps falling into the 26-27 range at the stations around me. Starting to see accretion on trees.
  4. Had to drive into DC. Roads are totally fine everywhere in Takoma Park and DC. Some untreated areas of sidewalks are becoming sheets of ice though. I saw one lady sliding down the parking lot ramp to target (not sure why she was walking on it in the first place) and I saw another guy glide a solid 6 feet across one of the grates above the metro.
  5. Sidewalks and roads still just wet in Takoma park.
  6. Hmmm sidewalks and roads still wet here but my car is already encased in ice. Coming down a little too hard for accretion right now methinks.
  7. The NAM is always right when it shows storms going north and giving us rain.
  8. It’s nasty out, everything is glazing up fast. Radar looks healthy for DC. Temp dropped to 27.
  9. 28/18 with a light freezing rain and sleet mix. Deck handrails already have a light glaze.
  10. Wow Houston Texas forecast low of 12 degrees Sunday night with a storm watch out. That’s gonna blow our seasonal lowest temp away. SMH.
  11. Please see your friendly neighborhood reaper @WxWatcher007 for further instructions.
  12. Yeah, I love the DC area. I have a job I love, so much to do around here, etc. But when I retire I’ll be moving to somewhere snowier. Possible places, Lake Tahoe, Alaska, Maine, Adirondacks. Tug Hill is snowy but not a ton to do there the rest of the year.
  13. It’s pretty typical on the northern edge of these events with dry air. The further from the radar beam you get the higher it gets, so you’re seeing precip that isn’t hitting the ground.
  14. It looks so close, second night in a row looking at snow approximately the same distance away lol.
  15. Nice shot. Looks beautiful. Good strolling weather. I took a trip down to Charlottesville with my wife just before my daughter was born. It was fun, very scenic area, did some cool hikes.
  16. If you look at Dover radar you can see plenty of virga over us. Where was this slightly colder air with lower dewpoints when we needed it 24 hours ago lolz?
  17. Well done. Do you go to school down there?
  18. This looks like a short pump jack you’re right.
  19. Yeah but sometimes lighter precip is actually more problematic in these temps. It’s only forecast to be in the upper 20s to low 30s for Saturday/Sunday. If you wanna see some pretty trees and deck railings then showers and drizzle will do the trick. Now, on Tuesday, if it’s really 20 degrees then yeah heavier rain will accrete and if you’re rooting for a high impact event then yeah root for heavies. Just my $0.02.
  20. Dry air eating it up as most models showed, no big deal. On to the ice storms we go.
  21. GFS showery/light precip look is probably what you wanna root for if you like accretion. It’s not gonna be cold enough for heavy rain to accrete I’d think.
  22. I agree. Can take or leave ice. NAM has two days of below 30 high temps. I remain skeptical. We haven't had any sub 30 highs yet this season around here I don't think.
  23. 18z NAM and 3K NAM both shifted a little north with tonights action, not quite enough for DC though.
  24. Bah, we need to shift that entire trough east about 500 miles. Texas is stealing our arctic air and snow!
