  1. mPing lighting up with frozen precipitation near the border. Looking like things are a bit ahead of schedule by an hour or two.
  2. A lot of reports of snow around Huntsville via mPing now.
  3. Down to 38 and the clouds are rolling in with the wind still gusting to 30 at times. Driveway is salted. Time to relax and watch Hunter on Facebook/YouTube and have some adult beverages!
  4. mPing reports of frozen precipitation near Huntsville now.
  5. Interesting to see snow reports coming in the Florence AL area already.
  6. I appreciate your efforts Hunter and totally understand how you feel. You have a following far beyond WNC now and your website is a huge hit with all the Webcams!
  7. Down to 40 here and NW winds gusting to 30 at times. The wind makes it feel like 20!
  8. 43 here and the wind is stiff! Made a run to Waynesville to get a few things from the store and overheard several chatting about leaving cars at the bottom of the hill and hooking up plows. Also NCDOT has started brimming the roads. Must be a Winter Storm coming.
  9. Just thinking about this past week regarding the short-term guidance. Early this past week we had a chance of light snow with no accumulations and no Advisory. Got 2 inches with that one. Rain forecasted for Friday, received sleet and graupel with light accumulations in the Northern Mountains (yeah Buckethead). So we have a cold front crossing the mountains mid day with fresh cold air. I Look back SW to S Central and SE Texas and now there are Advisories down into Houston proper as the first shot of Artic airmass is coming colder and wetter than the models had been indicating. I'll be looking at satalite and radar from this point on and just glancing at the models. Good luck gang and here's to Monday and Tuesday filled with good surprises!

  11. GSP issues Winter Storm Watch for Swain and Graham Counties.
  12. Very encouraging today. You folks in the SW looking really good today for a significant event. I'm a bit worried about down sloping, but even the Euro gives me 4 or 5 inches!
  13. Well how about that. Now let's see what the Canadian and European spin up!
  14. Temperature has been falling here as well. It 53 here at 11 AM and has dropped to 45 in the last half hour with some light rain.
  15. I'd like to see some plumes/percentages from the ensembles for chances of 1 inch snow for our Region. The operational guidance appears to be struggling too much at this range for me to trust their solutions.
  16. Looking like we have another episode of W to NWFS tomorrow night. It doesn't look as vigorous as the system, but another chance to add to seasonal totals perhaps.
  17. Another 48 hours and we might have a solution! Very encouraging trends today so far, though!
  18. Another day and another solution via the operational guidance. So the GFS and Canadian have trended toward the Euro in developing a low somewhere between I-20 and the Gulf Coast? Frankly I'm not sure with 5 days to go that these computer schemes are done moving around. Got to remember that all that Arctic air hasn't even materialize in real time so far. That chunk of very dense Artic airmass likey will not materialize until our Friday rainstorm moves well into Canada. My wag is to see what Saturday and Sunday solutions hold. Remember last weekend this storm was suggested for this Sunday into Monday. Now it's Monday into Tuesday.
