  1. The 18z HRRR will be telling. I’m beginning to think that the CAD might be underestimated.
  2. Power just now went out for 8,000 in northern Guilford. Ours went out, generator kicked on, but then Duke power resumed a few minutes later. More outages likely late tonight and early tomorrow. 30.9 currently. RAH forecast had me at 32 for noon.
  3. 31.3 degrees with icy trees. I’m a poet and didn’t know it.
  4. 06z HRRR showing the freezing rain picking up Friday night through Saturday morning.
  5. It’s been between 31.8 and 31.6 since midnight. I’ve not gone out to see if there’s any ice yet. Edit: Light sleet on the mulch and light ice on the trees. Nothing bad.
  6. I’m at 34.0 and 1 degree below RAH’s hourly forecast.
  7. For comparison since I’m a short distance to your south: 46.6 high at 10:28 AM 34.3 low currently 1.02” today
  8. The only part of that route that has a current winter storm warning is Beckley, WV. Here’s Beckley’s NWS forecast. I’ve seen worse conditions.
  9. It’s sparse when looking at KRLX, KJKL, KMRX, KGSP, and KRAX.
  10. Yep. 36.3 and rain here. And RAH insists... Little or no ice accumulation expected.
  11. Where there any warnings, watches, or travel advisories in place there this morning? Edit: There was a winter weather advisory in place. Seems like a lot of people ignored the advice to use caution on the roads. Driving like an F1 race.
  12. I’m right under the “H” in the word Haw above Greensboro. With the conflicting guidance, I don’t know what to expect.
  13. RNK updated their ice map this afternoon. RAH hasn’t since 4:32 AM.
  14. I’m checking out WPC’s latest freezing rain forecast maps and my backyard has an 80% chance of 0.10”, a 70% chance of 0.25”, a 40% chance of 0.50”, and a 10% of 1.00”. So what does RAH know that WPC doesn’t? Or does WPC just churn out verbatim model data?
  15. 40.6 degrees, heavy rain, and 0.6” in the bucket so far with 11 nearby lightning strikes since 12:30 today. Just your average February afternoon.
  16. The official anthem of the southeastern crew...
  17. I’m just pondering what could have been I guess. I’m tired of seeing snow maps lit up with the colors of the rainbow for everyone except us. When we see it, it’s for hour 384 and never happens. Gloom, despair, and agony on me. Whooooaaa!
  18. That was probably what my station picked up. Four strikes around 12:30. Farthest 17 miles away. Closest 6 miles away.
  19. BRB. Going to go start the Winter 2021-2022 Whining thread. Don’t worry. I’m on top of things, friends. LOL
  20. Coincidentally, my Tempest station just now detected lightning about 17 miles from here.
  21. This cold rain is a swift kick in the fellas.
  22. Nice work. You should book at gig at The Third Rail in Goodneighbor. LOL
  23. Currently 15 degrees to Amarillo freakin’ Texas.
