  1. Another week-out fantasy storm that will disappear by Monday.
  2. Remember last week when this was supposed to happen today? I tell the truth ‘cept when I lie. It only hurts me when I cry.
  3. At the risk of sounding old, I’ve learned to appreciate everyday no matter what it brings: heat, rain, or even a visit to the doctor or dentist.
  4. Currently sunny, 54.0/31.4, and low humidity. Almost perfect day for a 18-hole round with my father-in-law. Fore!
  5. My winter is certainly below average, but not a complete failure. I measured 3.75” of snow over four light events (1.75”, 0.75”, 0.75”, 0.50”) and 0.50” of ice between two events (0.30”, 0.20”). Better than last winter, but what stinks this year was the potential that was never really met. We hear often about the players on the field, but all my players were nursing injuries. Cold was only marginally cold. Precip could never get its timing right. Grade (unless this winter turns in an extra credit assignment): D+
  6. I’m on a ridge in the northern part of the county. I can see what you mean seeing how the lower stations are cooler. I won’t complain though. I’m taking my father-in-law to the driving range today and golf course tomorrow. Looking forward to some nice weather.
  7. While looking at various stations this morning, I noticed a wide variation in temperatures over a short distance. I’m 36.1 while airport is 29. One station near me is 35.8 while another is 30.9. I was at 30.0 at 5:40 AM, but the temp just took off like a rocket since then.
  8. I was there in 2019. (Fantastic food.) As warm as it was then, I can’t imagine it covered in snow.
  9. The 12z euro says, “Snow storm? What snow storm?”
  10. I’d lean towards C. Four 4” snows every season—with one of them during Christmas—would be my ideal winters. I think of it as would I rather eat one nice dinner every evening or have a huge feast on Saturday while fasting for the next week?
  11. Currently 39.0/17.3. Morning low of 23.7. Only supposed to get up to 42 today, but it’s nice to have the bright sun (current UV index of 4.0) to help dry things out.
  12. The 00z GFS looks to be holding holding serve for next Friday’s system. Warmer and a tad dryer, but it’s still there and this far out we can’t quibble about little details. The signal is there and that’s what counts.
  13. Step up when the time comes and you feel confident. We all deserve redemption at times.
  14. That’s exactly where I want it to stay for the next several days. LOL
  15. If this thing shows promise by Tuesday or Wednesday, we really need to be selective in who starts the thread.
  16. I lived in Chattanooga at the time. Two feet of snow that created stories I still tell to my children. I wish they could experience something like that just once.
  17. Last year, we had a lot of luck with okra and decent success with yellow squash. Bell peppers didn’t do so well.
  18. Now at 32.0 with a sizable cell coming through Guilford. No additional accretion expected.
  19. I’ve been stuck at 32.2 since 6:06 PM this evening except for three brief 32.0 readings at 7:40, 7:51, and 7:54. That was during a short period of rain that came through.
  20. What do you have the most luck with? We’ve found okra to be difficult to NOT grow well. The deer enjoy eating the leaves though. I end up picking it too late half the time. I’m resolving this year to do better.
  21. The 2020-2021 winter isn’t over yet, but our 2021 spring and summer lawn and garden season is right around the corner. When the weather isn’t severe and tropical cyclones aren’t heading our way, talk about your garden, plants, and lawn here. I’m ready for spring!
  22. I’ll get on that. It’s getting almost time to start prepping. We have some nice temps coming up soon.
  23. That’s exactly what I’m at right now. Getting a little more breezy. With little melting during the day around here, isolated outages late tonight and in the morning wouldn’t surprise me.
  24. Just 286 days until the next meteorological winter. Y’all promise me that we’ll all stick around and post severe weather and tropical cyclone obs. Maybe I’ll start a spring/summer lawn and garden thread.
