  1. Man, what the heck happened!? I've been off the grid for a couple days. Last I saw we were supposed to get basically nothing from this system, yet here I sit with 2.03" of rain. Radar estimates seem to indicate western Lancaster County as ground zero so I guess it makes sense @Itstrainingtime and I made out so well. So much for any sustained heat this week. A national low of 2 near Baker, NV. Goodness. As for sports, another raucous whiteout in the books, Phillies on fire (man have Harper and Hoskins had some moments or what), and my Packers look like dog sh$t.
  2. If only I had that type of power. @Itstrainingtime it won't let me quote your post properly but I see what you did there haha, and I couldn't agree more.
  3. Heading up to Happy Valley tomorrow and it could not be a more perfect fall football Saturday. Heavenly. Now about that team on the field.....we shall see ha.
  4. Man am I going to miss having my low-lying spot here for those cold clear calm winter nights.
  5. A nice cool autumn day on tap, getting nicer each of the next couple days. October now running 2.8 degrees below avg. This is about as dry as it gets for the Lower 48.....
  6. A tale as old as time ha. Love seeing all the early snow reports here and even a "puking" reference, has me giddy. Here's something you don't see every day -- the national low of 10 degrees occurred in Iowa, at a couple of outposts in the northwest part of the state. A rare feat.
  7. I work in this field and yeah, I don't think a lot of people have any idea what's about to hit them this winter. Might as well take a flamethrower to their wallets. Going to be absolutely brutal, no matter the heating source. I really feel for some folks. The energy markets are just so out of whack, like so many other markets. A mess indeed. I saw you mentioned about the trace in Coudersport and sure enough it looks like the Commonwealth received its first official snowfall of the season, with some places in Erie County getting around an inch. We're off and running.
  8. A nice cool autumn week on tap. For the first time in a long time the national low was below 100 -- 99 at Zapata, TX. You know what that means.......#WinterIsComing
  9. Total event rainfall here of .7". I've noticed this location occasionally showing up in the low temp records (14 miles west southwest of Mackay, ID) and decided to look it up. Unsurprisingly, it's another high elevation sink. Yesterday it was the national low at 14 degrees. Beautiful couple days on tap before the first snows for the Commonwealth next week. Onward.
  10. I should add that while it's only a couple hundred yards away it's almost 100' higher in elevation. I just can't escape that Chickies Ridge. #RidgeLife I have a buddy who has a station on WU close to my current house but it's been out of commission for quite some time. He is also saddled with young kids and hasn't had the wherewithal to fix it. Can't blame him ha.
  11. I was just checking out the Wundermap on WU and it appears there's someone with a station just a couple hundred yards to the south of my new house. Handy since I don't know how long it will be until I have a station up and running.
  12. I would give my left arm to trade Saturdays with you, and I hate craft shows
  13. Oh yes all good here. You nailed it with closing on the house at the end of the month and kids being exhausting. We just transferred the boy out of his crib and into the toddler bed and the newfound freedom has made for some difficult nights. I also got brought back to work in Harrisburg a couple days a week so sometimes I'm not as active on those days. All in all, everything is fine. Just a lot on my plate. Thanks for the concern though, much appreciated. Hope you and yours are doing well. As an aside, I just got reminded by my wife that I am being drug to a wedding on Saturday (for people I barely know, no less), so I'm going to miss the bulk of the PSU-Michigan game. To say I'm displeased would be an understatement ha.
  14. A little under .2" here so far. We'll see what happens later in the day when the front passes through. I agree with Nut about the northern tier seeing its first snows early to mid next week.
  15. National low of 16 in an area we don’t typically see — Davis, WV. The high was a routine 106 at Death Valley.
  16. Wish I could get some readings on these low temps but my thermo has been down and at this point I'm just going to wait until we move into the new house to install a new one. I still have the trusty rain gauge though and yesterday added an additional .01" to the tally. Looks like some nice weather ahead.
  17. Figured you must have gotten in on some good action yesterday. I'm back in Harrisburg a couple days a week now so I wasn't home to see what was happening.
  18. An additional 1.14" of rain here the last two days, bringing my 5-day total to 2.64". Looks like MDT missed out on its min max record by one degree yesterday, whereas MU broke its record by one degree. MDT currently running 7.7 degrees below average for the month.
  19. Three-day rain total here of exactly 1.5 inches. National high/low of 106 and 20 in the stalwarts of Death Valley and Peter Sinks. MDT ended September .4 degrees above average and with 3.98" of rain, which is .85" below avg.
  20. Exactly this. Many of these people experience a lifetime of storms and rarely do they pan out as hyped for their exact location so they develop a certain skepticism and let their guard down. And then that one comes to fruition right over their roof and boom.
  21. Yeah rarely does anything even close to those numbers verify at actual stations on the surface.
  22. Agreed, just not sure I’ll actually see any elevated snow totals at this new location, especially since I’ll be 5-10 minutes closer to the almighty sleet line that always approaches from the southeast haha.
  23. No not quite. Still on the northern base of the ridge. One downside is I’ll probably be just high enough now to miss out on some of the more extreme cold air inversion temps I used to measure at night. Can’t win ‘em all.
  24. About 2.5 miles ESE of my current location, so about an additional 5 minutes farther from you Training. You'll be happy to know we're still Black Knights, as we're still in West Hempfield Township. I am gaining roughly 100' in elevation though, so I expect my yearly snowfall totals to double, figure that's a fair assumption
  25. Howdy y'all, just wanted to confirm that MJS still lives, as I haven't posted in a couple weeks. Had a lot going on, between the PSU/Auburn road trip (which was awesome), then my toddler brought home a nasty bug from daycare that knocked my on my arse for a week, and the big thing, after a year and a half in this stupid market, we finally got a house. So things have been a bit hectic but I should be around again more regularly moving forward. Total rain for me the last couple weeks was just .29". All eyes on Florida and then before you know it we'll be tracking snow!
