  1. They might just have to fly straight to Nashville.
  2. God, that’s a thing of beauty right there. Lock it in.
  3. Those lake effect streamers got all the way out there?
  4. And the Steelers might finally be on the verge of finding their next franchise QB after Ben.
  5. Sadly, I think that one last bit of magic was the game-winning drive yesterday.
  6. You’re right, I’m actually neglecting the possibility that the entire human existence is scripted. If so, I hope that script has a massive snowstorm written into it.
  7. The point you mentioned is what I have to remind myself every time the “maybe it’s scripted” thought creeps into my mind. It’s quite simple really: if it were scripted, some disgruntled current or former player/coach/ref/etc. would have leaked it a long time ago. I’m glad I chose to go to bed when the LV/LAC game got to 26-14 (because how many games that are 26-14 in the 4th end up going to overtime?), because I’m fairly certain I would have had a heart attack if I saw how it ended. But hopefully it is scripted, because that’s the only way the Steelers beat the Chiefs on Sunday.
  8. Thank you for the detailed explanation, and for putting up with us stat nerds who like to investigate all of these quirks related to lesser-known observation sites.
  9. @Mount Joy Snowman, it looks like AFJ is an AWOS site at 1063 feet, about 20 miles south of PIT as the crow flies. What differentiates AWOS sites that make it onto that list from AWOS sites that don’t? Reliability of data?
  10. I think it’s probably a notorious cold spot for western PA. Perhaps the data is questionable, I’ve never looked into it. PIT got to 6 around 7:30 this morning and several personal weather stations in the area got to the low single digits so I would tend to believe that reading, but it may be a different type of site than your typical airport.
  11. State low that I could find at an airport was at AFJ (Washington, PA), which got down to 2, but that’s more my neck of the woods than yours.
  12. High of 21 today at PIT. Our record streak of consecutive days without a high below 20 continues but coldest high since 3/6/19.
  13. Nice little burst of moderate/heavy snow here this evening. Everything is covered again. Maybe another inch or more honestly. Love bonus snow.
  14. Isn’t there a thing with ZR where the accretion is almost always less than the QPF for some reason or another?
  15. Nah, not the 76ers. The 75ers, who share the same arena.
  16. Not shocking, just makes a political jab that I’d rather not gum up a wx thread with.
  17. I won’t post the tweet, it’s pretty loaded.
  18. At least on here, most are aware that the 300+ maps are relatively meaningless and simply for discussion/entertainment purposes. JB’s audience is presumably much wider and some would surely interpret a 378 hour map as a forecast.
  19. There is a kiss of death for my polar vortex event, however: JB tweeted about it yesterday using the hour 378 map of the operational GFS.
  20. 12z GEFS still showed a deep blue on the 500 anomaly at the end of its range.
  21. Could see grass poking through last night’s snow when I got up this morning, can’t see it now. Win.
  22. GFS has been fairly consistent the last 3 or 4 runs with its depiction of a brutally cold period in that timeframe and the ensembles are showing a notably strong signal for cold considering how far out it is.
