  1. Our season snowfall deficit stands at just 4 inches through today.
  2. No, I can’t see how anything other than snow would fall in that setup.
  3. You think we can start Saturday with a low near 0 and still find a way to have sleet/zr/rain by the end of the day?
  4. Looks like the 24 hour total at PIT was 9.1” (3.5 yesterday and 5.6 today). I’d say this thing panned out.
  5. Do they shut down for modeled snow on any model, or do they make an exception if it’s just the NAM?
  6. This thread was 7 pages long when the GFS first picked up this storm. It’s now 53.
  7. Me either, just giving you crap. I’d rather not live in a place that averages out to get probably a couple inches a year more than I do and is a significant downgrade on nearly every other level.
  8. I’m sure there are houses for sale in Beaver County, where it snows more than it does here, you just have to look.
  9. But would be nice. We’re now only sitting 5 or 6 inches below normal officially for the season to date.
  10. It’s just the NAM. The NAM is never right, especially beyond 24-48 hours.
  11. We need snow cover if we’re to have a good chance of ending those streaks I’d like to see end.
  12. We can only hope it’s discovered that the folks at the ECMWF have been covering up and enabling something heinous and disgusting for decades and they have to suspend it for awhile.
  13. I use the NWS office and the airport interchangeably. I know it’s technically not correct, but there’s a reason that’s where the office is located and not in the city or something.
  14. Forecast discussion mentioned ensembles suggesting an omega block locking us into a cold pattern for the balance of January. Great for snow retention assuming we can get most of it to survive Wednesday, not so great for additional storms.
  15. Ultimately it’s not going to go down as a bust in my mind. It could have been a great winter storm, and it’s turning out to be a good winter storm. Not going to cry over getting 8” of snow when I could have gotten 12.
  16. It’s the same old story every time. Not going to complain because I have 7 or 8 inches of snow on the ground, but I went back and read some posts from last year’s snow to rain mess in Pittsburgh on 2/15-16 and it was the same thing. The NAM a couple of days before the storm decided that the low was coming much further inland than previously anticipated and that there would be p-type and dry slotting issues. When the storm arrived, there were p-type and dry slotting issues. We didn’t learn our lesson then, and apparently neither did the NWS, who finally put mix into the grids around here yesterday mid-afternoon.
  17. I measured 7.5” at my house just now. We’ll just round that to 8 and say this thing was only a small bust, not a complete bust. Good to finally see snow again.
  18. Did PIT actually see 0.47” of precip in the 5:51 hour? Is that accurate?
  19. Also I’ll be in Florida next weekend so @KPITSnowwill have to do double duty on the doom and gloom if we get a storm.
  20. It will. By Wednesday afternoon you’ll see parts of your lawn that you just saw earlier today.
  21. There’s a little band coming that might take a half an hour to pivot through and give us an additional half inch.
  22. It’s not a matter of when, it’s if. HRRR shows 6” of snow left now.
  23. You know why they no longer happen, but this probably isn’t the time or place to discuss it.
