Im right there with ya. I want so much to be excited, and truthfully I am. But being burnt by models so many times makes it hard. Having said that, most models are showing this and even WCYB acknowledged this. For them to up their totals, something has to be up. They are usually super conservative. Understandably so.

Happy new year guys!!! Thank you all so much for the insight and information, it's very interesting. Hopefully we can reel in some good cold and a few snow chances in 2022.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Then we all know what happened around 3 weeks later. Don't think I'll ever witness a blizzard like that again in my lifetime. Sadly I was only 9 years old lol.

Thank you very much. That definitely makes sense. I live in Big Rock, right on the Va/Ky state line. The mountains behind my house and across from my house have had snow on them for what seems like weeks. Down here in the valley, seems it takes a strong push to get the cold to settle in for a good snow. As a snow lover, it can be frustrating to see the snow all around in the higher elevations but not in the lower. I really shouldn't complain though. It is an absolute beautiful sight when the mountain tops are covered in snow.

Anyone think Buchanan County, VA will end up with anything frozen? The forecast was 32 degrees and all rain for Thursday night last I checked. Seems like a few of the models show ZR possibly creeping in, but I'm pretty much a noob with a lot of this. Funny thing, and I promise this isn't me whining lol, just very curious. It almost always seems like Buchanan county is the cut off to any kind of frozen precip when temps are borderline. To the east, west, north and sometimes south. Is that anything to do with the formation of the mountains? Maybe the cold has a harder time pushing through? We definitely get our fair share of rain here. One of the only things Grundy is known for are the terrible floods throughout the years. You guys are so awesome with all of your knowledge, maybe someone can fill me in. Sorry this turned into a two part post lol.

Just started snowing here. Still a bit of a mix but seems to be switching to snow quickly.

East TN, SWVA, E KY, and Plateau NW flow obs. Feb 1 - 2

The roads are in pretty bad shape on Rt. 460 west from Grundy to KY state line. Didn't take long to get that way. The snow is slowing down compared to an hour or so ago.- 195 replies

Last night when I was at work it snowed pretty hard, but im guessing the ground was too warm for any accumulation. I do know the higher elevation roadways got a bit rough, but it stayed mostly rain in the valley locations. I am curious to see if there is any kind of stickage through tomorrow evening.

I will definitely take some pics. Just hoping things pan out for this neck of the woods. Seems like Buchanan Co. Is horrible at receiving any kind of snow anymore. Even when it's calling for a decent amount, it's usually a cold rain lol. Really hoping all of us can cash in at some point this winter!- 847 replies

Thank you guys for the help! I've lurked around for years, just figured it was time to join in on the conversation! Since I've been old enough to remember I've had an "unhealthy" obsession for weather lol. I'm learning a lot just from what I've read on here over the years. As far as these storms go, it really does seem the models want to do the NW jog when it comes within a couple days of game time. Hopefully we can all get a little bit of Christmas magic this year.- 847 replies

Hey guys. Another long time lurker here. I live in SW VA, Buchanan County to be exact, on the KY state line. Maybe you can help with a couple of questions. First, am I in the right forums lol. Seems this one is closer to me. Second, will Grundy, VA have any luck with this coming system. By luck I mean snow accumulation lol. Thanks in advance!!- 847 replies
