  1. That deck of mid-to-high level clouds didn’t do us any favors early, but it is up to 90 here and disgusting, so we wait.
  2. One of the things that I didn't anticipate when moving to the east coast was the lack of sirens. They are ubiquitous in the center of the country.
  3. Unpleasantly warm for early June. Four straight 90s and three with lows >70. Save that crap for July.
  4. I was coming into this thread to mention this. Noticeable now on my oaks and very light on a few others (river birch, witch hazel, dogwood). Nothing on our japanese maples, which is what we were most concerned about. I did cover about 10 "vulnerable" trees, but clearly not tight enough because they made it inside. Hoping it is enough of a deterrent to keep the ladies from doing their thing, though. Also, the sound has really ramped down in the last couple of days and fewer are flying. Feels like last weekend might have been the peak here.
  5. The cicadas are pushing the boundary back into DC
  6. Do I get a win for following the directions? 99 _ 99 _ 101 _ 101
  7. 4th 90 in a row at home. DCA is going to fall short because of that shower.
  8. I’ve passed some loud spots but haven’t cracked 82dB. 90s are impressive.
  9. You are right, and it isn't even close. Sewer is over double as much as the water.
  10. I should run the water more in winter so my summer “overage” charges will be less.
  11. First night this year that I’ve noticed fireflies.
  12. A drought is whenever I have to water the lawn.
  13. Popped (if you can call it that) to 56.7 at about 4:30pm here.
  14. Might be the 2nd year in a row that we get a record low max in May (52 on 5/9/20).
  15. There is a bit of a funky smell near places with a lot of dead cicada. Not overwhelming, but there.
  16. The 12z HRRR does get some instability up to about I-66.
  17. Two deer just decided to plop down in my neighbor’s yard and wait out the storm. Have never seen that.
  18. Don’t take this as gospel, but I don’t think the cicadas get high enough to be seen by radar.
  19. Radar picking up some strong winds near Great Falls.
  20. About 0.50” on the day. 59 and dreary. Fine for a Monday.
  21. The rain really shut them up this morning.
