  1. "No one can figure out why the Atlantic Ocean is cooling at record speed" Ummm...that's easy. The volcanoes are no longer active.
  2. Not according to the DoOm MeRcHaNtS!!
  3. Only reason I'd want it warmer is to take advantage of the last couple weeks of the neighborhood pool being open. Friday evening and Saturday should be great.
  4. Totally missed this point. Thanks for the research into it!
  5. Exactly. 76 on August 20 isn't wild in and of itself, but the fact that it only got to 76 without precip and/or thick cloud cover is what makes it impressive.
  6. The stretch in 1992 saw measurable precip on every day from August 12-18 except for the 14th, which had a Trace, so I'm guessing there were plenty of clouds during that entire 7-day period. My point is that a having day with partly cloudy skies only get to 76 at DCA is incredibly impressive. Add in a similar day today and you have to admire that!
  7. I wonder how many of those were reached on days without full clouds and precip. It's also more impressive that this was done on August 20 and not later in the month.
  8. Kids are back to school today, and while it's nice to have a lack of chaos while working at home, there wasn't any adjustment to a different routine because only 9 1/2 weeks of summer break didn't *really* set a new routine. It honestly feels almost like they never even finished last school year. It was an incredibly busy summer, so maybe that's part of it - just lots happening and no set routine other than 6 weeks of swim!
  9. Surprised to see about 0.25" recorded by a couple nearby CoCoRaHs. I guess it rained hard for those 10 minutes or so last night!
  10. All globals have ~1" locally through Tuesday. Of course it won't be a standard inch everywhere, but at least there's reasonable precip potential.
  11. Exactly. He's also just a great person, which I think will endear him to lots of people as the World Cup hype starts ramping up as we get closer to 2026.
  12. It's an amazing hire. Poch's style is much more aggressive that we've been used to seeing - a high press with quick counters in a 4-2-3-1, a formation which suits our players quite well. The concern will be that it's hard to instill that style in players who are only in camp for a limited period of time, but he's a good enough coach to adjust as needed. As a Spurs and US fan, I'm absolutely ecstatic about this!
  13. Absolutely gorgeous walk on the Liberty Bell Trail this morning. Felt so nice not to be sweating buckets within five minutes of heading out! Stream is still a little high after the 1.00" of rain the other night, which is honestly kind of nice to see after there being so little water in it for much of the summer!
  14. Sure did. Sat on the porch under the fan for much of it - nice coolness to the air!
  15. I honestly haven’t paid attention other than wunderground showing a chance of showers this evening. Nice surprise, for sure!
  16. Lee was awesome but it sucked. You’ve heard my feeling on it plenty before - just way too much water in a relatively short span of time. Two periods of heavy rains, with the second being incredible downpours for those hours and hours. Got home from HHI yesterday after being delayed due to that training line. Good to see everything so lush and green…and sticky!
  17. Pouring..,just pouring in Burke right now.
  18. Monday was interesting and some good fun here in HHI, but the last two days have generally been a bore, to be honest. Hope we get some more interesting weather at home over the next couple days than I’ve seen here since Monday!
  19. The center has moved significantly over the past six hours compared to the previous 12-18 hours. I think we’ll see some strengthening since the center is pretty well off the coast at this point. Wife and I want to take advantage of the extra few days down here with the kids’ grandparents, so hopefully we can get and about at least a little tomorrow! After 8+” of rain yesterday, we’ve gotten 1-2” today. Really need this thing to beef up tomorrow if HHI is going to get close to the 20” being bandied about a couple days ago!
  20. Since I’m down here in HHI, I’ve been watching the radar closely for the last 36 hours. The center of circulation has definitely hopped around in the last 4-6 hours and is now significantly offshore, whereas it had been sitting basically just SSE of Savannah for ages. Not sure what that means for things at home, but just making my own observation. Hopefully it results in 25” of rain in six hours up there!
  21. It's been just a regular rainy day down here, but definitely some heavier showers started mixing in about an hour or so ago. It's impressive that the rain is wrapping around so far west. Get that to keep wrapping all the way around the circulation and it'll be some decent rains here again.
  22. My daughter and I just measured 1.2” of rain in the last 10 minutes here in HHI. it’s absolutely f*cking dumping rain right now.
  23. Yeah man...bring it home for the Mid-Atlantic!
  24. Probably so. Fire it up, tropical man! First really angry band coming ashore in HHI now. Conditions definitely going downhill and a tornado warning close by. Lots of alcohol procured, so we're ready...
  25. Just got back from a run out on the bluff on the northern end of the island. Conditions are so much different on the sound than they are just 1/2 mile inland. Quite blustery out there but pretty blasé at the house. I'm sure that'll change as the center gets a little closer.
